Re: constructive criticism please

Well they look OK to me ;) You can worry too much about the "perfect" photo but the first question you should ask yourself is "Do I like them?". Re: Honington monday 11 july 1983, just a morning at the fence.

I agree with Nighthawke nothing wrong with the MTL3, cracking bit of kit in its day. Fuji 100 is a lovely film too, however scanning it is the tricky part ;) It does tend to scan with a colour cast even when the slides look beautiful! Mind you most films do. Don't be afraid to do a little experiment...
I saw the Greens perform @ Wyton's Open Day in '84 and have a b+w photo but this colour shot is much better so many thanks for posting. Do you mind if I save it for my collection?
Most certainly, you'll find 3 or 4 more from that display in the Flickr album at 1500x1000 pixels whic...

Re: Former Warsaw Pact Hardware #1

What a shock it was to see what they really looked like in the flesh tho' (see pic no. 7)! No different to us, although for those Czechs they insisted it was beer o'clock at 0830  The greatest leveller was seeing the Russians in the diner provided for crews and volunteers. The amount of food ...

Going to Airshows in the 70's and '80s you dreamed about the "opposition" and what it would be like to see Migs and Sukhois and the like. Then suddenly it happened and the early 90s saw an increasing number of visitors with a variety of types we never thought possible. Finally finished scanning and ...

Re: Working up to 70+UK ?

Pension was never forced at 65 you were always allowed to work on. You could take the pension or defer. Sadly those who campaigned for pension equality thought that the age for us chaps would come down to that of the ladies. Unfortunately, while there pension increased the age came up to meet ours a...

Re: Tiger Meet Cambrai 1986

Nice one Harold, the Spanish F.1 Mirages looked so good in that scheme. Had never realised that there had been a Mirage 1V 'Tiger' Sqn. Very nice scans as well. Fisherman, the Mirage IV wasn't from a Tiger Sqn. IIRC it was a Porte Ouvertes held during the Tiger Meet, there were a few none tigers th...

Re: LF:Information on 11Sqn Lightning's Late 70s Serial No,s

There are photos of two aircraft with WS10 badges on the excellent FaceBook page English Electric Lightning Appreciation Group. One is F6 XS901/G with what looks like FG Off A JAMES, the other is F3 XP695, code is not visible in photo name is FG OFF S C MANNING. XS901 had dayglo patches applied for ...

Great post Ian.
I reckon you must have been about 5ft closer to the Hahn F-16 at Heyford than me.
Ni
That will be the 5ft I trimmed off when editing the scan

Re: RIAT - The Cottesmore Years Pt. 1 2000 Arrivals

You should have been stood on a sales booth all day. I think I was wearing every piece of clothing I had taken with me. Also got in to big trouble for giving away some artwork to the kids when we were told to give it away with the checklists. Trouble was it was 1 from a set of umpteen, and being a s...
