US Trip: Barksdale Part I

Another visit to this fantastic base, for a few days of the sights and sounds of the mighty Buff. Hard to beat :thumb: A typical day will see around 5-10 launches in the morning, with recoveries in the afternoon, usually hitting the circuit before a full stop. First up, a visit by a Minot aircraft, ...

US Trip: Texas

A few from the recent US trip, kicking off in the Dallas area, before heading East into Louisiana... Fort Worth Alliance gets a surprising amount of transient military and is great for shots. 25th April had 5 USAF T-6A's, 2 US Navy T-45C's and 3 two-seat Hornets night stopping. First up, USMC F/A-18...

Re: 135 With a Difference

Thanks for the replies. Of course, used to look like this... http://www.jazz707.com/PhotoJournal/2011/USA-St-Maarten-May-2011/i-sCzKZvb/0/XL/IMG_1458-XL.jpg Only my thoughts, but i think there is some sharing of the TC-135S across the Offutt units, not just the 45th but the 38RS as well (only being ...

135 With a Difference

Another Barksdale departure shot, with a noticeable change on this 135 recently... Anyone?

BTW, morning light not so clever. More to come, with Buffs sunny side up!

Re: USA Airshow Double

Doing it the other way around, Derek. But yeh, a great combo show weekend, not too far to drive (around 3.5 hours). You know about the T-39 at East Texas Regional and the museum at Tyler Pounds (with all the aircraft out on the ramp outside) en route? You having more time at Barksdale? I'll be there...

Re: Tornado nose colour

As i understand it, its an Astrocoat finish, usually done at factory level.

Similar to the Astrocoat finish spray-applied to the wingtips.

ZK113 Status?

Can anyone confirm the status of ZK113? Does it still fly?

Any word on when it will be heading back to Saudi? Its the last Saudi test Tornado at Warton?

Cheers.

Re: MPs highlight air defence fears for independent Scotland

And like i said above, we HAVE PAID for whats there, we are only entitled to our share of WHAT WE HAVE PAID FOR! And 'your' share of the UK National Debt... around £1.5 Trillion by next year... how much is Scotlands share? Apparently around £150 Billion... or £50 odd Billion with 30 years of oil mo...

Does it look like 101 has damage to the tail leading edge? or is the paint peeling?
No, thats just the neoprene cover thats put on the fin cap leading edge. Often deteriorates over time.

Re: Mildenhall E-3 and RC-135

And since when do the Offutt aircraft have red tail bands?! Anyone seen this before?

Previously it was green for the 38RS & 343RS V/W's, and black for the other 135's.

Maybe the 343RS, who's squadron badge is mostly red, have their own now?

Re: Operational Log for February 2010.

Hi Gents, my first post here... Further to John's report for 2nd Feb, i spent the afternoon here, mostly in miserable weather, and can add... XX263 Hawk VYT44: made a low overshoot at 1345, on RTB Valley. There was also two Tucano's earlier: LOP25 & LOP30 on go-around quite high. ZK113 Tornado IDS T...
