A waste that the UK took the Harriers out of service early and sold them off cheaply as a spares source.

Re: Biden "mini" state visit
Quite a low profile visit, but President Biden is due to be in the UK/London very early July before the NATO Summit in Vilnius. He is expected to meet King Charles III & Rishi Sunak among other engagements. Assuming everything is still going to plan we can expect a flurry of RCH flights into Northo...

Re: King’s Coronation Flypast Info 25th - 27th April & 6th May 2023
The Texans are taking the scenic route back to Valley after the flypast: - 16.39 Wrexham AFC Stadium, then across Chester, up the Mersey past the Liver Building, across the Dee estuary and up the North Wales cost via Prestatyn, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, arriving overhead Llandudno at 16.55. They will then h...

Re: Half of Russia's Black Sea fleet's combat jets out of operation, Western official says
At the same time they appear to have wired MiG-29s to fire AGM-88 HARMs .. Can't say I've seen any evidence of that, and one wonders how someone managed to do that, especially given the circumstances in Ukraine currently. But if those shared photos are genuine, that HARM had to come from somewhere....

Thanks for posting the link. I read this the other day but couldn't remember where I'd seen it.Lossie wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 11:49 amSome details here regarding which base it is:

Re: Two more US F-35 Sqns to the UK
Just a thought about relocating F35 (or airframes to make space for more F35) .Does Fairford have permanently installed arrestor gear or is it a temporary fit for RIAT ? Can’t see the U2 guys happy with cables going up and down. Arrestor gear wasn't a problem at Alconbury when they operated RF-4C, ...

We had MC-130's operating out of Binbrook in the early 80's, nightflying with the airfield in total darkness. It was reported at the time that unidentified jet aircraft were also seen overshooting the airfield, again in total darkness.

Re: RAF QRA Question
Which article does one go with! The audio tapes of the conversations that took place between the air defence hierarchy. or one of the QRA pilots. Ramming any potential jet would be more decisive than staffing with canon fire - instant perhaps. Later footage shows F15s circling over Washington. The ...

Re: RAF QRA Question
Good on yer, nothing untoward about asking a question. Interestingly, a documentary this week covering the 9/11 terrorist attacks showed footage whereby the big air chief in command asked what ordnance the QRA F16s were loaded with, as there was still a commercial air liner heading towards Washingt...

Re: Kabul - USAF C-17 - 02-1109
Finally, the C-17 that left with 600+ passengers, but which had several fall to their death, has been impounded while it's crew is being investigated. The USAF have issued a statement via their FB page in the last 20mins stating it was two different aircraft. The one with people clinging to is bein...

Re: Pilot fined after landing at RAF Valley 'to see beach
I must admit to being rather surprised that there was no 'listening watch' in the Tower, despite the base being closed. Would be useful, particularly for light aircraft in that susceptible weather area to have a choice for a diversion. Big active base with no radio cover?, again odd.Used to speak r...

Re: QEAF/RAF Hawk Squadron
Interesting. Guess it will be Valley unless the circuit is deemed "too busy" but Leeming would be a possibility. Yes, those were my thoughts too. I know times have changed but Valley is far quieter now than it was when the the three Hawk lines were in operation. 50 jets flying 5 waves a day plus ST...
