Re: Merlin rotor head question
The AVCS will take the form of a number of black rectangular boxes (about twice the size of a shoe box, depending on shoe size!), or white double circle (like a figure 8 outline) units bolted to the airframe proper. Usually you find them in the airframe, but the S92 has a set in the nose wheel well....

Re: Merlin rotor head question
Whilst I'm not saying you are categorically wrong, Malcolm, (I'm not that arrogant) I'd be very surprised if those are to do with avcs. All of the AVCS I've dealt with have been mechanical units, usually bolted to the cabin or airframe itself. Essentially, they are heavy weights that move in compens...

Re: Bristow win the SAR contract, Sikorsky S-92 and AW189
Who will train the next generation ? Would doubt Bristows will have a training school turning out new crews. Bristow do indeed have a training school, for both engineers and pilots, with a fully functioning EASA/CAA certified S-92A simulator positioned at Aberdeen. Indeed, many pilots have transiti...

Re: F35 JSF for Marham and Lakenheath
Article in this weeks Flight carries the following: "Hammond also revealed that the Ministry of Defence currently favours the Royal Air Force’s Marham base in Norfolk to become the main operating site for its F-35B Lightning IIs, "but that no decision has yet been made"." Falcon 4.0 and others
A few years ago I had and became reasonably copmetent at alcon 4.0, the original Korean edition. For one reason or another I no longer have it. Coming back to the military FlightSim market, I'm contemplating Falcon 4.0 Allied Force, but before I purchase I wondered if any of you guys could recomend ...

Re: 1965 RAF Leuchars Airshow
Thanks Mike, that's good to see a log. My only wish is that Dad had taken more photos when he had the chance. I guess it would have been hard to appreciate then what interest we'd be showing now. Actually, no, My only wish would be to go back in time in a go-back-in-time-type thingimey-bob with a di...

1969 Leuchars Airshow
This is from the 1969 RAF Leuchars Airshow. The slide quality really goes downhill here, but I hope it's still of some interest. Ironically these ones are actually Kodachrome, which I'd have thought would have survived better than the earlier stuff, which I think was Perutz: http://i3.photobucket.co...

Re: 1965 RAF Leuchars Airshow
Highlight for me is the shot with the two Belgian F-84s.
I know the Argosy shot is less than perfect, but I've included it because it's in the air and so should hopefully be of interest.

1965 Leuchars Airshow here. All of these of course taken pre SLR by my father with his trusty Halina 35mm paralax, which I must say is still going strong. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/P3K/Old%20Scans/2010-12-26_0-1.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/P3K/Old%20Scans/2010-12-26_1-1.jpg h...

Re: Leuchars Airshow 1964
Thanks folks. I'll post a few other from other years later, but time hasn't been kind to the slides I'm afraid, 65 and 69 are much worse than these.
In this set, the Norwegian F-86s have to be the pick of the bunch for me.
