Re: 2022 Cosford Airshow

Evening, anyone know what was wrong with Red 6 or 7 this evening on arrival at Shawbury? Team did a normal run and break into the circuit to land. All was normal than either 6 or 7 (wasn't counting) touched fully down rolled a bit then powered up and went around. It then did 2 circuits and landed no...

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2022

Both Rafales outside at 6am Saturday morning. Easy to see from the farm track to the crash gate off the Acton Reynald road. Cheers I've recently move 10-miles away from Shawbury so I need to make a trip over. Does anyone know if the Rafales need to PDA today? Was done yesterday apparently. Thank you!

Re: SR-71's at RAF Akrotiri

Its no secret that the USAF operated SR71's over Israel / Egypt during and after the Yom Kippur War in 1973. They operated directly from CONUS so would not have come under Det-4 out of Mildenhall. It is therefore possible that if one had an issue or there was an issue with its KC135Q that Akrotiri w...

Whats the 100ARW up to? There are 8 QUID flights airborne at the moment and more or less over Lincoln. That's a sizable part of the fleet.

Re: No parking on roadside

If i read the latest (FB) post correctly, its worse than I thought Just to add some clarity on the parking situation, as there seems to be a few of you that may have been misinformed. The only area available for parking is the dedicated viewing area car park, this has been provided by the Base. All ...

Re: LN Runway Status 24/06 (or 25/06)

Just read this on Facebook post so it's 2nd hand info: Great day at lakenheath even thi not much flying. Got blue special tail of the 493rd doon performance take off. Then a pilot took the 3rd cable and ripped it oit causing a 25x25ft hole in runway. This caused runway to be shut just before dinner....

Thanks all. I checked the NOTAMs also and saw nothing. I'll probably risk a trip tomorrow as it will be my last chance for a few months.
(Hope they got a good warrante on this runway surface!)

LN Runway Status 24/06 (or 25/06)

Evening,
Does anyone have the definitive state of the LN runway at the moment. I keep seeing alternate posts on FB that it's got yet another hole in it and the Eagles are dirverting to Mildenhall again.
Thanks in advance

Re: F16 Demo Team breaks another jet!

That panel coming off could of been as simple as the latches on it not being put down correctly. If thats the case then no matter the flight the panel could of come off, i use to work on Tornados and ive heard loads of stories of panels coming off due to them not being fitted or secured correctly, ...

They are not doing anything that a 40-year old Tornado was not doing before at a fraction of the cost 😜
Hardly a test of a 5th generation fighter. Oh and they are only there for 6 weeks rather than a normal 3-4 month deployment.

Re: Refuelling the F-35 ,when on the QE ?

As for tanking off the carrier; if it's needed the Voyager (or A N Other coalition tanker can do it). The carriers take the fighters close in because they have a limited range. Modern tankers (well, the Voyager/KC-30 family) have ample range to be deployed well behind and in a far safer environment...

Re: Questions on the F35

Lies, damn lies and statistics The amount of UK participation varies by model and customer. It's most for the B as RR is involved additionally for the lift fan in that model. It's least in the Israeli A model as they have fitted there own counter measure suite rather than the BAe system (this goes a...
