These photos bring back some happy times

Yes John did deliver a number of those jets to Cranfield. BJ was also the Lightning display pilot for two seasons.

A former Lightning pilot and friend of mine had the code BJ displayed on his jet. This was because his name was John Aldington, or BJ, as he was known.

The Hunter XF995, last flew while at Boscombe Down, but during a touch and go around, the engine seized and the pilot did a great job to get her down. The jet was then transported by lorry to Scampton and never flew again. The pilot told me, he almost had to eject, before making the runway. Lucky guy.

Maltese Air Wing (AS9819) was seen performing crew training at Exeter today.

I've tried to get the RAF museum at Cosford interested in this Basset, but they were not interested. Which is a real shame.

XE688 has just got airborne from Boscombe and is heading for Leeming.

The jet was seen doing its usual thing low over Portland Bill on Wednesday, which was nice.

Just to add to the John Hurrell thread. John flew for Hunter Flying club at Exeter for many years and he was one of the best pilots we had down there. Oh happy times.

I see ZF510 is out and about today with c/s ETP 04.

Rob, I think your jet was ZA355, which was on its was from Swansea to White Waltham. The jet is then due to go to Duxford.

Does anyone know if Strikemaster G-FLYY is still here?

I've seen it said they are all due to be retired at the end of January. Time will tell.
