Re: Donna Nook range closed for lack of staff

Presumably these ranges are staffed by RAF personnel. If so where are they based? Cranwell, Coningsby, Marham? A mix of RAF (Controllers and management) and SERCO do the ground work Might as well close the place or put it on permanent "opened by Notam" RAF Air Weapons Range Controllers who are spec...

Alley of Abandoned Migs

Hi, I am visiting Albania for 2 weeks next month and I am looking for any information regarding the Shenyang fighters that were located at Kucove Airbase. The latest information regarding them is from 2022 that I can find, but since then the base has seen a major upgrade for NATO operations. Is ther...

Re: Joint Warrior 23-2?

Hi Black Mike - would be interested in hearing of your source for the 20th Oct start date, not suggesting for a moment that they are inaccurate. The earlier dates were cited on the NATO Exercise page but were subsequently removed, hence, I think, the confusion re dates. Many thanks, Pete Not quite ...

RAF Lossiemouth: 9th May 2023

Hi all, It's been a while since I last posted. Here is my selection from a day on base, at the tower in the morning and on the old TACAN hardstanding beside the runway in front of the new fire section in the afternoon. A very good, busy day that reminded me of the good old days. 7 FN Rafales from 12...

Re: Rafales May 3rd

What hangar do VASS( if there’s still such a thing), use nowadays, I’m imagining K16 or 17? No VASS hangar anymore as such. The Rafales are operating from Echo hardstanding and using the Alpha line hut I believe. I would imagine maybe 9Sqn and 6Sqn with them being away are helping with hangarage. I...

Did you miss the armed jets?
There were some heading out with dummy LGBs, but if the shots aren’t good enough I don’t post them.
Ah that's a shame, those 'dummy LGBs' were real live Paveway IVs.
