Hobby Boss 1/48 Tornado Gr4

Haven't posted on here for a long long time but I thought as this kit was a bit of a dog accuracy wise I'd put some pics up. I am by no means a rivet counter there were a couple of things that were just too obvious. The most obvious mod is to the canopy frame which is far too shalow. This was rectif...

Re: A Slow Day On The Top Shelf

I don't normally comment on pics but these are really superb. Aside from the fantastic scenery shots they are taken as these shots should be taken i.e the aircraft with plenty of the stunning scenery in the background. Brilliant.

Re: new use for Alconbury

I would have thought that a new build village with affordable(and thats the main part of this ) housing would be far more appealing to the area than a noisy freight terminal or a prison. It is a shame that these historic airfields are just wiped off the map like West Malling down my way however as a...

Re: Colt latest :@

Sideshow bob thanks for the info. very useful if somewhat depressing to read. As to the previous comment re the red arrows and bbmf-I can see what you are saying but the cost of maintaining the BBMF(some of which are volunteers) is minimal compared to maintaining a squadron of jags etc. The reds pro...

Re: RIAT organisers get ready for bumper show

I agree with Chris & Adam I think the organisers should be given a round of applause for what they've managed to bag this year, a fantastic lineup in my opinion. We seem to be the only country in Europe holding anything like this in scale year in year out, lets celebrate that ! If you're not happy ...

Re: UK to revert back to F-35B?

Whilst i believe the c varient made more sense because it means our carriers could be more flexible I think that out of the three varients the C is now most at risk. The USN is the only customer for it and they do have other options i.e the F/A 18. If the B had collapsed once the harriers are gone t...

HMS Ocean and it's Lynx's 5 5 12

Here's a few of HMS Ocean at Greenwich. As per usual at the mo the weather was rubbish with bad light and showers. Here's what I got on Saturday. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn215/balders1812/HAS/IMG_1436_filtered.jpg http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn215/balders1812/HAS/IMG_1481.jpg http:...

Re: Missiles to deploy on block of flats

I suspect they are there more as a deterrent. If the gov't did nothing people would complain at that aswell. The idea is to show tommy terrorist that security is being taken seriously. Two armed guards at the entrance to an RAF /Navy or Army base wouldn't be able to do much but will hopefully put of...

I suspect that you are right about the ucav. Its the way the US wants to go and we are doing it to a lesser degree at the moment with land based aircraft.

Re: UK to revert back to F-35B?

Regardless of the cock up with which F-35 to have it is a bit rich of the Labour party to describe this as a procurement mess up. It was Labour who decided that we should have the carriers and yet they didn't order them for over 10 years and then delayed the build of them which increased the cost. A...

Re: Future of Leuchars - not good!

As has been said there have been plenty of base closures in the rest of the UK and bearing in mind the percentage of population in scotland is 1/12 of the rest of the UK I would say the balance is right. At least the military have kept a presence at some bases in Scotland. South of the border they h...
