I believe that the Grasshopper is/was XP490. At least it started life as such, but by the time it has had a few wing/fuselage replacements it's anybody's guess! Perhaps that is why it spent so long

Re: USS Nimitz - Stokes Bay - September 1980
I remember it well Stu. Seem to remember an "extended stay" on board when Mick and I joined another group as they embarked before we disembarked! Obviously head-counts were not that thorough back then.

Re: Midland Air Museum 3.6.21
To clarify the sighting of XE855's booms - both were seen 30.1.14 wearing serial and yellow band. Alongside was one wing, also with yellow mks. Wrong way up to read serial though! "Swaps" for Viscount "bits" sounds plausible.

Re: Midland Air Museum 3.6.21
"Stored" is hardly how I would describe the state of the booms of XE855 when seen lying in the grass at Moreton Fire Service Training College a few years back. Also GE seems to show the wings near the NE perimeter. Probably now cleared with the arrival of ex.Manston residents.

The late 10333 has been quoted as one of those involved, which doesn't really help!

Re: Anyone Flown In A Vulcan?
Cadet camp at Lindholme 1970 - flew to Scampton in Hastings T5 TG505 and had a tour of a Vulcan. Still remember the tight squeeze between pilot and co-pilot seats when accessing the cockpit! Visited the bomb-bay of one at St Athan years later and remember the excess of space. Unfortunately, flights ...

Re: Kemble 1990
I believe that '967 came in for repair of battle damage, and other Herks included all of 435TAWs from Germany for mods in the late 80's. 67SOS's aircraft were 'serviced' as well.
Ex.Alconbury F-5Es were processed prior to delivery to Morocco and Tunisia, and 4 which were air-freighted in from the US.

Hi Tom,
Firstly condolences.
What is your early bird price(if it's still available), and where would I need to collect from?
Best wishes,
Rich Hodgkinson
