Re: CRANWELL WADDINGTON BINBROOK CONINGSBY LOGS 05 & 06.03.84

Thanks for the reminder John of the 228OCU 'mishap' - I was on the approach at Waddington for the recoveries, panning as each aircraft came over the A15, only to hear the two dull 'thuds' as the crew banged out as the aircraft was still airborne but about to land. I had already turned around for the...

Re: Various USAF A-7s

Hi Darren, very nice mate  Did always love the A7's. Remember great days for ANG arrivals, usually Saturday afternoons,... one standing on the A1 as they landed into Wittering or the darkening afternoon at Waddington when I think 36 turned up. Always remember speaking with the crews of the pri...

Great captures  Interesting to see when they start turning up at Mildenhall. They just seem to have been an eternity getting to the delivery stage with all the politics and wrangling. Talking to crews at Mildenhall there are still many issues that haven't been taken into account that were pu...

From a recent visit to Australia during March, regrettably the only military aircraft seen was this Chinook (A15-304) - dividend of an apartment up on hillside as it cruised by our balcony while I was photographing the surfers down on Manley Beach, (Sydney) It was morning and against the light so ap...

Excellent shots 'for the record' Dave  Just love that 'Black Widow' Interesting that they all looked to have been short of available space in luggage transit pods and had to stow back packs 'on the dash' - haven't seen that too many times before. Extra 'stuff' in the already confined cockpit...

What more can be said .. truly excellent shots, particularly in this final and memorable year of F-4 ops.
Judging by the 'bun fight' in # 58 and the average stature of our Japanese friends an elevated monopod might have been handy for a clear view

Hey Jayson, excellent opportunity taken there with a truly excellent outcome. Shots really bring a new dimension to some FC photographers favourite airfields. I must say that aside of the weather you were fortunate to have a full team of MC130J's, nice RC135's and a good team of CV22's. Enjoyed a si...

Excellent quality scans Lee  1969 was my first Finningley. This is a great memory as I my dad towed me around I busily wrote serials into my note pad, unfortunately no camera. Brilliant shots of a very memorable day Mike. Had to look twice in shot # 6 - thought pilot was making a 'gesture' Bet they were disappointed that they couldn't have taxied onto the main pan with the other two, but at least they were down safe. Thanks for posting, must get down myself before too lon...

Hi Paddy,
Superb post mate  Those sunny hot days down at the 'Hall... just sublime. Working day or air show never was disappointed in the action.
