Re: F-35B Marham Sunset
Although difficult to do, you've made the grey scheme appear more interesting with your nicely lit photos. Hard to believe but the grey lo-vis scheme may be about to become the RAF's longest surviving camouflage scheme, if we consider the Dark Green/Dark Sea Grey as lasting from the late '40s to the...

Looks like a ALQ119 Jamming Pod https://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/equip/an-alq-119.htm It does. Strange that it appears to have been mounted so far forward on the pylon rather than more centrally or maybe that was how they were always carried on the A10. That'd be due to the A-10's aileron/deceler...

Re: Second Cell of 493rd returning home
Nice set of photos. But does anyone know why the F-15Cs are carrying what look like Sniper pods? Have they been engaging in mud moving? Never mind, explanation found in Nick's post here https://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=178105&sid=51c69cfe085fe4ff8854d8e8a9c7a2f3#p1103418 ....

#1 and #4 are BAe's Lightning F3 ER (Extended Range) XP693, their F6 testbed at Binbrook in 1984.
The background E3 would have been a very new thing at the time too.

For anyone curious, the blue finned Voodoo is F-101C 56-0019 of the 81st TFW, Bentwaters.
There's a similar photo on the Air Britain site showing the full serial.

Re: WA Nellis F-4Gs supported by NY C-130H night stop the Heath.
Hi Michael, great to see some Phantoms in the air! If it helps, I have a photo from the Airfighters site of 69-7286 landing at Lakenheath that's dated October 1994. I very much doubt the Nellis Weasels would have deployed via Lakenheath very often, so would guess that's the likely date fort your pho...

Great set!
Also philled in a phew blanks in my Phantom philes. Hard to believe that those jets were all 40 years old at the time, and ROKAF is a very active Air Force.

Let them have their fill of 'brands' and their 'branding' when the RAF is no longer a service, but a fully corporate agency of some privatised UK Defence PLC. Our schools are already spending vast amounts of time and energy recruiting 'sponsors' and 'friends' and otherwise devising wheezes to make u...

Great pictures, thanks for posting.
I'd recently had discussions about that bad batch of pea green 30219 tan, and whether the 48th TFW had any LORAN equipped F-4Ds, so your photos are very timely.

C-141 66-0186 was the first stretched Starlifter (160 inch 'plug' before the wing, 120 inch aft) and the tail band denotes the Air Force Flight Test Center (US spelling!) at Edwards AFB.

A very nice selection of Phab Phantoms! I'm intrigued by the FG1 in photo 35 though. I've seen the blue crosses painted on ones to be scrapped as per treaty protocol, but the red triangle with the inset Phantom silhouette is a new marking for me. Have you any further info regarding its location or i...

Very nice photos.
Interesting that the RAF sign writer got his FGR 2 Phantoms slightly mixed up with his FG 1s!

Here you go Malcolm, a link to FG1 XT859 VL-725 of 700P at Farnborough in September 1968.

Re: 3 x NAS 892 Phantoms 1976 Turnhouse
You're very welcome - thanks for posting the photos! Another anomaly with those aircraft, though probably only visible in a close up, is that they were RAF owned, but painted in FAA colours, except for the serial numbers which were in black on the spine as with RAF practice, rather than on the flank...

Not actually 892 Sqn, but the rarer POCU - the Phantom Operational Conversion Unit, which took over Fleet training duties when 767 Sqn was disbanded. I believe it became the Phantom Training Flight around 1977 when the end of RN Phantom operations was in sight. The aircraft would be FG1 XV570 Y POCU...

Nice record of them in transit. They look like they've flown through a dense flock of particularly nervous seagulls! Of course they both cleaned up well. (And your F-100C is actually 54-2091) https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1595/25824245030_2f7a876a5a_c.jpg http://www.warbirdregistry.org/jetregistry/i...

Nice action photos!
I'm looking forward to seeing a Merlin and an NH90 together at some point, for comparison.
Unrelated, but aren't things getting a little ridiculous when national insignia are so reduced they could be mistaken for maintenance markings?

Nice photos!
I hadn't seen a Trader with the scimitar blade props before.
I suppose all the Trackers must be fitted with them, and now the C-2s are in progress.
