Re: Patrouille Suisse F-5 down

Amazing how the F5 survived larglely intact, it must have hit the snow covered mountain side at just the right angle taking all the energy out of the fall.

My money is on a meteor ,there was a large fireball reported 3 weeks ago over the UK. 300 grams made it through and landed on a driveway in Gloucestershire.

Awesome test flight last night. Shame the landing ended how it did but I’m sure SpaceX will gain plenty of data from that test and come back stronger with SN9.
Absolutely fascinating to watch. I agree loads of data will have been gathered, can't wait for SN9.

Re: Really stupid answers from TV quiz shows.

I remember on Family Fortunes in the 80s, a question was asked 'name something you take to the beach' , answer 'Turkey' .

Re: Strange movement, Inverness???

Video has emerged of which could be what I saw on Thursday 19/9/19 but this time it looks as if to be in America going by the womans accent. As I have stated they faded out as if entering earths shadow like the ISS. Makes me wonder if its a couple of highly reflective satelites . https://www.youtube...

Re: Strange movement, Inverness???

Just to confirm, the white lights I saw were steady on and not really bright . I would estimate around mag 0 or +1 for those who follow space stuff.

Re: Strange movement, Inverness???

I wasn't going to bring the subject of strange white lights in the sky but on Thursday night around 1945 hrs I saw two white lights heading NE over Newark line a stern which eventually faded out. No green/red strobes. Checked FR24, Freedar, plane finder and Heavens above for satelite passes and all ...

Re: ZH107

Yes, at the moment only ZH103 is airworthy. ZH107 has not flown since receiving its special 54 squadron tail paint some years ago, and it's now withdrawn from use. ZH105 was the first to be withdrawn some time ago, and has basically been the first sacrifice to help the others, loosing it's outer wi...

Good grief , I remember this. Only got a few pics of this show. Nice relaxed sort of day and I got in for nothing as the guard on the main gate waved me through saying 'nice motorbike mate'!

A meteor a long way away will always appear slower than a meteor nearer to you, even though they could be doing the same speed.
Good point,but still lasted a long time for a meteor,around 5 seconds.

Was it this one? https://ukmeteornetwork.co.uk/fireballs ... 10_050702/
No,the one I saw was on the 12th and no where near as spectacular. It was just the length of time it survived and its slow speed for a meteor that was interesting.
