Re: Log Lossiemouth - Friday 12/4/19

Put it in the farmer's field so you can shoot over the fence :)

All previous airframes went to a scrapyard in Seaham I think. Don't see the point of moving it all the way up to Lossie just to scrap it.

Re: Sea Harrier at Pensacola 1986

The ejection changed the centre of gravity of the aircraft and it climbed clear of the ground. The No 3 aircraft who’s radio had failed then joined up with the pilotless aircraft thinking it to be the leader. He followed ZD609 through a series of manoeuvres for two minutes Imagine thinking you're w...

Re: World Tornado situation......

Fair point, I meant more that whomever is supporting these fleets would be foolish to not acquire lifed and available spares if they were available.
Absolutely, at least look at the possibility.

Re: World Tornado situation......

as the nuts and bolts elements will be passed around other current platforms to see if they need in the future. Single-use items will be scrapped with the bulk of the airframe. The RTP process involved a 'keep list' that was surprisingly small. It costs a lot of money to store an entire Tornado bro...

Not an raf decision it was a decision made by the aircraft safety board due to the age of the airframes.

Re: RAF squadrons-OP Shader

things are going to be pretty tight with all the typhoon squadron being utilized, will there be much slack left eg for ADGB etc ?? That's what the 2 new Tranche 1 squadrons are for: https://www.janes.com/article/81705/raf-announces-new-typhoon-protector-squadrons Jane’s had previously been told by ...

Bahrain Airshow Fri 17 Nov 2018

Excellent day out but slightly frustrated by the haze and cloud. If anyone's thinking of going in 2020 make sure you get a trade pass as the public don't get access to the static display. 1. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4910/45243104884_c6c833834a_b.jpg Bahrain Air Show_01 by STEVEN BARNETT , on F...

My thoughts exactly. Having seen yours I think I was stood next to you for a fair chunk of the day! Were you in a white t-shirt in the corner of the enclosure?

Re: Bahrain International Airshow 2018

Great stuff Ian, just editing mine now. That USAF F-16 was epic! Which days did you visit? Sounds like you're describing the Friday when I was there. I thought it was a great show overall, and will definitely be looking to go again in 2020.

Re: Log Lossiemouth - Thursday 15/11/18

Probably something to do with the general apathy shown towards photographers who take the time to post pics - sometimes without a single comment or thanks. That and the fact that forums have less of an immediate impact in this age of technology. That's a shame Al. I've seen photos on FB, but I only...

Re: Specsavers England vs India Test match series

How many times has Jimmy Anderson played for Lancashire over the last few years? Or any other test player? Central contracts are an important part of producing a world-class test team. Our best players were burnt out from the county grind in the 1990s. Another fantastic test in this series. Superb d...

Please do; what do you know...? I know sweet FA about the F-35, which is why I didn't offer any comments on the incident. I just don't understand the need to immediately shut down any discussion of it. Seahornet1, you must remember that specific members of this forum have far more knowledge about t...

Are the groundwork’s really for a new apron
I think that's where the new hangar is being built.
It was a certainly a memorable trip for perhaps all the wrong reasons, although I do like a happy ending
