Re: AF1 and gas n go
That's why the new VC-25B (when they eventually get delivered) will not have AAR as it was not worth the costs. The military wanted the aerial refuelling capability for the VC-25Bs but the decision was made by Trump to cut it. Even Republicans on Capitol Hill were shocked that the capability was be...

Re: RAF Museum Hendon hangar closures
Just a heads up for anyone planning a visit. I went to visit today (Tuesday May 13th) to find that hangars 3, 4 and 5, are shut due to flooding. Not sure how long this will go on for but might be worth checking with them before making a long journey. Well I guess there has been a lot of rain of lat...

Re: White House and Qatar discuss transfer of luxury jet for Air Force One
It was said it would be an Air Force One with less systems on board, just for transport within the USA. A perfect plane for his visits to Mar-A-Lago. For international transport the old VC-25’s would still be used I can't see the secret service or chiefs of staff allowing it. You only have to look ...

That's interesting and thanks for finding it. Certainly proves the point that operations can be carried out from motorway-type roads, but I was a little puzzled that the first frame showed a curved section, which might well prove a little tricky for military aircraft operations! No problem. Thanks.

So he proved that the Jag could land and take-off on a public road. Did they ever subsequently do that whilst in service with the RAF? In 1977, four Royal Air Force (RAF) Jaguars from No. 31 Squadron in West Germany operated from a section of the newly constructed autobahn between Bremen and Bremer...

Re: US return to Afghanistan? (Unconfirmed)
It could be Trump seeking to have the Taliban return military equipment left behind in Afghanistan? One of his election promises. “If we’re going to pay billions of dollars a year, tell them we’re not going to give them the money unless they give back our military equipment,” Trump said, referring t...

By the time any a/c are manufactured and delivered Trump will be long gone. Trump is determined to try and get a third term. That includes running as Vance's Vice President in 2028 and then having Vance step down as President. He also claims to have other options. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/trump-sa...

Re: Top Gun inside the RAF C4
Inside the Reaper control cabin we were introduced to "Melissa, an Imagery Analysist". Is that the modern terminology for a Photo Interpreter? Looking at the patches on her overalls, it appears she is now classified as aircrew. Is that correct? As an aside, do drone operators receive Flying Pay? "M...

Re: Top Gun inside the RAF C4
I cannot recall the stats from the first programme but I think that the pilot mentioned that 5-6 drones (TBM?) were being launched every 30secs or maybe 30mins. At the end it was revealed that the Typhoons had downed 3 drones. Agreed that the Typhoon and Pilots may not be operating in a role it was...

Yes, of course. The decision could have been made to terminate the re-build. Time will tell! Update on that. The FY25 Defense Appropriations Act has been approved meaning that the U-2 is currently safe and that no U-2s can be divested. Preventing the early retirement of three ships and retaining the...

Thinking about going to Cranwell to see the rehearsal. Spot on the A17 looks good...but will they be applying parking restrictions?? See following guide for Cranwell. Most people use 'L'. Plenty of parking on the grass at that location. https://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/spotting/cranwell.php
