Re: Mildenhall Based Aircraft Current Situation

V22s 12-0063, 12-0065 have left the unit (end of December) and yesterday evening two replacements arrived 0057 (a previous resident) plus one other that is unconfirmed at the moment. Just note; The serials of the ‘new’ arrivals have yet to be confirmed and apparently both aircraft are hangared. So ...

Re: Selfie film?

Probably more than one camera...... The selfie filming (which personally I think looks crap) is on one take and other coverage a second camera or even drone footage on a second take.
I expect those walks we’re filmed over several hours or even days. Not just on one take.

Re: Forum rules update for the new tier system in England?

Knowing rules and adhering to them seems to be a problem for quite a few people during this pandemic, Dave :grr: You’re quite right, though, people ought to be able to show a bit of common sense, both on and off the forum ;) Nail on head Paddy... common sense: sadly lacking from most folk these day...

Having experienced some pretty rough runways in my time I am surprised that a quarterter-inch deep, half-inch wide scrape can make any difference to an aircraft. Maybe fighter-jets are more fussy.
I’d say it wouldn’t affect landing or take off as such, other than an increased risk of punctures.

We will have to wait for the relevant LN notam to be sure, but don’t expect any flying between Christmas and new year.
What makes you say that?
Because they haven’t flown between Xmas and new year for the last two or three years, not expecting this year to be any different.

Re: christmas closure

No notam has been posted for LN closure as yet. But MH is closed the following:
23 DEC 23:00 2020 UNTIL 28 DEC 06:00 2020
30 DEC 23:00 2020 UNTIL 04 JAN 06:00 2021
We will have to wait for the relevant LN notam to be sure, but don’t expect any flying between Christmas and new year.

Re: CMB 454 767-200 inbound LN [RT/PP]

I never understand why the civvies that are used for these trips aren’t scheduled to arrive after normal F15 flying hours. Even the Military normally manage to bring the heavies in after and depart them before flying starts early in the day. Can’t be that hard to organise surely.

Re: USAF F-35 Display Team Lakenheath display December 2021

Playing devil's advocate, putting the information on this forum will only encourage people to go to Lakenheath, perhaps there is a message there. It's a year away, I'm sure LN will put in place plans if this is an official display.. maybe the base will be open for parking to avoid the local road ch...

Hi PB, No trees any more, sadly. I’ve managed ladders to clear leaves from the gutters and also to clean the upstairs windows. Oh! The joys of saggy bottoms and layers of fat. Ah well, I can still get my pants over my trousers... 🚀 Moldsight I’m exaggerating. Only deaf in one ear. Have fun on FC Ri...

Why didn’t they get delivered direct to Wattisham? Because the runway at Wattisham is U/S. It was suitable for heavies only but not fast jets up until a few years ago. From latest AIP: “Use of Runways The largely PFC surface has considerably exceeded its design life (DIO AD maintenance inspection, ...

Re: Sea Vixen XP924 Update

That is a shame - the last flying Sea Vixen Doesn't the insurance cover at least some of the repairs? Maybe only covered for TPFT lol. Seriously though by the time public liability insurance is paid maybe the cost to actually insure the aircraft was prohibitive, or with a massive excess. Such a sha...

Re: 48th Fighter Wing - Last Noted

I think 0027 has left the LN fleet. As you say it’s not returned from its trip stateside.

And it’s likely some jets will return from PDM in next few days as since COVID the crews that have taken jets out to PDM have brought reworked jets back as a return trip after rest period.

Re: Re yesterdays Keflavik deployment

I think that the F15E would do it without a tanker support. I believe the C has done it without tankers in past but assume it very much depends on wx and wind conditions. Also note E has larger fuel capacity than the C due to the conformal fuel tanks. As already stated, 57th FIS Eagles were fitted ...

Re: MILDENHALL Wx DIVERTS

MH based birds will often divert to LN, as you rightly say runways are different bearings. But not sure LN has the extra parking at present due to construction works. With various ramps closed. Also sometimes if wind is from certain directions it can be as much a cross wind at LN as it is at MH. Hop...
