Re: RAF Leeming Air Fairs '92 - '95

I went to two Leeming shows, both were excellent. One had a heavy warbird element with almost all the Old Flying Machine Company fleet. A Tornado F3 returned home from policing the no-fly zone in (I think) the Balkans mid show, they had it holding over Dishforth for ages before it ran-in. The static...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Chuch Fenton/Leeds East

Really enjoyed Flying Legends. Went for both show days and spent many hours on site the preceding week also. The rain was a nuisance on the Saturday but we still enjoyed a reduced programme of flying. Sunday faired much better with everything except the Wildcat, Gladiator and Horesmen taking to the ...

I'm looking to attend this but the only issue is getting there by train. What is it like getting into the show from Church Fenton railway station? Any help is greatly appreciated thanks as I can't find anything online about airshow days There will be a shuttle bus from Church Fenton railway station...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Chuch Fenton/Leeds East

Flying Legends held a press day at Church Fenton on the 12th featuring the Grace family Spitfire and TF51-D 'Contrary Mary', both of which flew journalists and photographers throughout the day. The airfield is looking great with the new grass strip in situ, further modifications specifically for FL ...

Very surprised to see Sally B doesn't have Legends on her 2023 scheudle.
Every other date listed on Sally B's itinerary has been revealed on the events own socials so don't read too much into that - there's certainly a B-17 size hole in the list for July!

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Chuch Fenton/Leeds East

The additional distance from DX to LEA, by fighter, would be around 30/40 mins I should think. In 2005 I flew to Roudnice Nad Labem (Czech Republic) in P-51 'Susy' with the Breighton based Hurricane in tow, we opted for the channel crossing and refuelled in Leige. The trip was all part of the advent...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Chuch Fenton/Leeds East

From a Newcastle enthusiasts point of view however, one who has never missed a RIAT ( including all the Greenham Common ones) the 2 dates clashing are a big disappointment, obviously not be attending the Leeds East show.Thankfully there are several excellent airshows to attend abroad this year to ke...

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Chuch Fenton/Leeds East

Dont forget FL only needs to attract a fraction of the 200,000+ that RIAT does (around 15k per day) - are you really suggesting that there are only 200k aviation fans in the UK? Frankly laughable. Even more laughable is this incessant football terrace mentality - the need to slag the event off, for ...

Well, this is building nicely into a premier event to rival RIAT....NOT!
Bit of a ridiculous statement, two completely different shows with their own USP.

Re: LINTON FINAL GRADUATION

looking at Church Fenton that doesn't seem to have taken off as a business jet venture. Leeds East should begin in earnest soon - CAA approval for GNSS is still in the consultation phase and is rumoured to be online sometime around next spring. They've a huge FBO building which is now externally co...

Two thirds of the presentation covered a very comprehensive traffic management and parking plan which looks to introduce multiple entrances to the site with park...

Re: Great Yorkshire Airshow - Leeds East Airport

I don't think it will be called the GREAT Yorkshire Airshow as some guys down the road near Harrogate took umbrage to them using that name (allegedly!). Really excellent event though, thoroughly enjoyed it and was proud to be involved, albeit in a minuscule capacity. Incidentally we parked the C-47 ...

Re: Church Fenton Air Display?

There's talk of a small static display and possibly a flightline walk after the display itself. As far as I'm aware '597 isn't on the roster although they do have 2 Spitfires booked to appear so far. '597 has made a low-key flying visit to Fenton in recent years when it 'slept-over' during an appear...

Now the 26th September. I reckon it will take considerable investment to make it viable but securing the site in the first place was a very good move. Unfortunately it appears to have been almost criminally neglected over the past 15 years.

Hi Ben, there were loads of folk I managed not to bump into, that said, a bit bigger and busier than Breighton! I hear you Linton but I'm thinking big - I want JPs, Spitfires and Mustangs please LOL! The only aircraft sporting military schemes were the Cub and the Bulldog. There was also a Chipmunk ...
