Re: RAF Hercules

I'm sure I read last year on Fighter Control that the RAF Herc fleet was being reduced to 3 however I have seen at least 4 this year - ZH865/868/869/889. Does anyone know the actual position - how many Hercs are still flying? And is it only 30 Sqd operational with them now? Thanks. Only 47 Sqn fron...

It was secured a few years back that 'BN' would be preserved, just was not clear when until now.

Re: Glasgow in meltdown over F-15’s

I guess you could say with reduced low level traffic, the gap in controlled airspace between Glasgow and Edinburgh is less used, so more of a surprise when aircraft go through, well compared than in the past when there was a higher amount of low level traffic etc. Social media is great but sometimes...

1st RAF air to air kill since 1982 as well I believe
I was surprised that the last was 1948 but having browsed a bit the Falklands shoot-down involved an RN Sea Harrier flown by RAF pilot. Maybe someone can confirm or correct this?
I believe that is correct, RN Aircraft, RAF pilot.

Re: Typhoon jet shoots down drone of Syria

😷 💉 It seems to be a very expensive solution to a drone threat. Of course I am totally unaware of the circumstances  Stay safe. 👐🏼 🤡 🛰 I think the response to this is covered by the statement within the second sentence where is was deemed 'to pose a threat to Coalition forces.' If I was one o...

Does anyone know what role 22Sq at Benson will have in the introduction of the AH64E? They are the Operational Evaluation Unit for all helicopter types across all three services.
I would of thought similar to how 41 Sqn is, testing and trialing equipment before frontline.

Re: Number 30 Squadron is back

Always good to have another Squadron back up and running.

Do 30 Squadron still have their own callsigns? Or will they just have a block set of Ascot callsigns like 70 Squadron?

Morning all, Updating some newer arrivals since I last posted :) Mixture of UK helicopters units and one for the Italian HH-101A that I missed getting at RIAT. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50086218836_0616e284bd_b.jpg Some older RAF patches from previous types. https://live.staticflickr.com/6...

Re: E-3 Numbers Reduced Again

Bring in mind as well, the radar itself on top of the E-7 is alot newer and has lot more capability than the current radar fitted the the RAF E-3D. The RAAF used their Wedgetail's to great affect over Iraq and Syria few years back.

Re: RAF F35 Red Flag 20-1

Red Flag 20/1, 27 Jan - 14 Feb, MAM Notam severely restricted activity in January anticipating your assumption. Also, with 207 Sqn doing some carrier training early in the new year, it does look like Marham may be quieter (if that is possible!) Exercise Crimson Ocean is due to take place after Red ...

Re: lowlevelRAF's Collection

Nice. Just for your info - I don't think that your Hawk / 100 Sqn patch has anything to do with the Hawk (or the RAF!) It is one of those made up designs from Wayviation / 2535Wayne on E-bay. Don't take offence but he has a fine selection of fake stuff sold via E-bay and appearing in people's colle...
