Re: RAF BINBROOK hangar & flightline tour 5th August 1987

Thanks 3G , lovely shots . XR753 BP was a bit rare , as her pilot [ with name painted on ] was Chris Berners-Price , hence he was allocated BP . A really nice quiet guy . Got to fly with with him in '97-'01 on B757s . He got his command on B75s shortly after , but last I heard had been poorly and mi...

Jon , thanks for these . There are a lot more a/c than when I visited 25 yrs ago . Was impressed with almost the history of the BAF in a/c. Most impressive of the lot was a Luftwaffe Fiat G91 . Instead of just a shell with engine systems etc. all missing as in a lot of exhibits . There she was strai...

Phil , thanks for the great shots . But I'm biased ! It's Compton in the Clouds , and Compton in the Cross wind today ; so I'm playing catch up on FC . Didn't expect to see these , a good mate in front of Harvard and last Chippy ; and myself in back of 69-1 , with another good mate up front . Paddyb...

Thanks , it's great to see them in the UK at last , and in Naarfick at that .
Tech. ques. Do they have to do a Stol or Vtol landing every time in normal ops ? Or are they like Harriers ? In that a non V/Stol landing is non normal .

Lovely shots ,
Probably Prestwick is the nearest mainland runway to the Ocean . All that water and having to cross your legs for about 6 hours . Who wouldn't need a pee ?
Has a good weather record as a ferry terminal since flying 'cross the 'pond first began .

Lovely stuff , thanks for posting . Reminds me of my youth , but down at Colt . 'Tho the Lanc is great ; I was on Shuttle Standby at GLA .
