Re: RNAS Yeovilton Log - 20th Feb 2020

The roads through Yeovilton village to Pyle Lane were fine. You can’t access Speckington Lane from the B3151. I used the lay-by just up from the crossroads and walked on the embankment next to the fence. I think Speckington Lane might be accessible from the other direction.

Re: Sculthorpe A-7s

Awesome pictures from these great deployments. Today is the anniversary of the deployment of 36 A-7s to Waddington in 1985. I was reminded of this just now watching Football Focus as it was the same day as the Bradford fire. Very sad end to that day.

Las Vegas - McCarran and Nellis

Re: Hornets/ Super Hornets/ Growlers

Great pics.

Any idea what day these will leave Nellis? I am in LV Sat through to Wed. I know that Monday is a public holiday. Just wondered when might be the best time for a pass out!!

Any info appreciated.

Re: June 1995, CC F-111s and LA B-52s visit Fairford

The F-111s were beasts. I lived in east Norwich in the 80s and they were daily sights over the house en route home to Lakenheath. Agree as well that you could see some of those deployments and hardly anyone else would be there. I recall the arrival of some MB A10s at Woodbridge one summers evening i...

Great set of pictures. I will be in LV on the 16th Feb. Is there any chance of catching these before they leave?

Re: Holiday Idea's . . . . .

Another option is getting a cheap Ryanair flight to Basel for a few days of Swiss lakes and mountains. Meiringen is superb if you get the right time of year (also good if you like Sherlock Holmes!) and Alpnach is awesome for close access. I believe that the Swiss AF actually publish details of their...

Re: Holiday Idea's . . . . .

I haven’t been for years but San Javier used to be fairly busy, particularly in the morning. The beach at Los Alcazares is pretty much on the approach at the southern end. You also used to be able to drive round to a campsite on the eastern side and get decent views of the runway. The main ramp was ...

Re: Last two Saudi F15's

The 2 Saudi F15s were sitting outside on Wed evening. They are located among the ANG F15s. All are visible /readable from the field on the other side of the road.

Hope this helps.

Italian AF AMX - RAF Coltishall

Hi After several years I have finally started to work out how to convert some old (tape) digital video camera footage to my computer. To be honest I am not sure if the quality is good enough to upload on to you tube but I have decided to take the plunge anyway. Please excuse the hand shaking as I wa...

Fantastic photos. These bring back great memories for me as I spent hours on the approach at Rimini in July 1985 during a family holiday. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Your first ever military spotting trip, where, when etc?

Andrew - I've dug out my old copies of Norfolk Air Review from that era(!). I can find no record of the Saab but on October 27th the visitors included your Nimrod, 27 Sqn Tornado and the Sea Heron. Also XT299/X but not 298/E of the OCU. I have scanned through but can find no Saab 105 (Sk60) at also...

Re: Your first ever military spotting trip, where, when etc?

My first log is only dated November 1983 at what was to become my local - RAF Coltishall. As one of the visitors that day was what turned out to be a rarity 60131/15 Swedish AF Saab 105, hopefully someone can assist with a date. Other visitors that day were: ZA604/12 Tornado 27sqn XT898/E Phantom 22...
