Re: Best Vulcan Display Seen?

RAF Swinderby in the early 70s at my uncles passing out parade. From memory the commentary was about its new camouflage paint job , It was being thrown around showing off the top surfaces and it's low level Performance. After this the 2nd would be around 1980 at Leicester airshow and a very fast kni...

Noticed Alonso car off the pace also. Gives the conspiracy groups of the Aston and red bull share of development wind tunnel time and over budget so use Aston Martin, 2 teams worth of budget and development. Let Alonso be shotgun for the redbulls.

Re: British F-35Bs To Bring Vertical Landing Abilities To Highways

A1(M) around Peterborough looks a possibility as a runway. Too many potholes  Is that part still concrete. Used to be many areas 20 or 30 years ago With concrete dual carriage ways and motoways. Since the end of the cold War most have been tarmacadam over them. As been said thou, still lots of...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 General Discussion Thread

I would suggest that the F.35 appeared 'Wobbly' compared to the Harrier, simply because the F.35 is fly-by-wire, therefore computer making constant inputs and corrections to turbulence, whereas the Harrier is manually controlled, and will only react to pilot inputs. Therefore, if said pilot chooses...

Solo Harrier display on now in high winds sitting crowd center. Solid as a rock. Still the best at what it was designed to do.

The F-35 didn't hover long compared to the Harrier still nice to see them fly side by side
F35 was totally outclassed by the Harrier, f35 was wobbling and hardly stood still, harrier was rock steady and the climb out of the Harrier as always been a super feature of the swivel nozzles.

Re: News on flying displays

Could be bad news for Saturday, with a yellow weather warning in place
The show and grounds under health and safety and insurance purposes
The show Saturday or even Friday could have to close.
Keep an eye out for a news feed from RIAT Friday.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 General Discussion Thread

Saturday doesn't look that awful with regards to rain, a lot less than Friday anyway. Maybe move some of tomorrow's validations to today as a precaution? Rain wise Saturday granted is not as bad as Friday, It's the strong winds mixed with the rain. Majority of display are team Displays that will be...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 General Discussion Thread

Validation displays on Friday could be hampered by the weather Friday.
What is the course of action without Validation regarding the weekend.
Saturday's weather looks terrible with rain but also strong winds in the 40-55mph region.
That will most certainly have a big effect on flying.

Normal for the Demo team to take a Bird off the ramp at Lakenheath.
So if the Rumour is correct you will see any sign week prior at the Heath, practice and familiarity flights etc.
