Scampton

I am sure this has already been covered but when the Red Arrows move and Scampton shuts does anyone know what will happen to the red air operations that use the base.

Possible combined airshows

Do you think with dwindling budgets that a possible merger of RIAT and farnborough into one show would be a possibility. Hold it at Fairford and have the trade show during the week and public weekends

Re: 6 Ex RAF Tristars sold to US company

Right this is just a question is the wake behind a A-380 too much to make it a viable tanker.

Re: 6 Ex RAF Tristars sold to US company

One issue for the tristars is the fact the USAF are about to retire 17 KC-10extenders. It would seem logical for a company to buy these instead as they are ready to go.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2020 Discussion Thread

With the virus being much more widespread by summer there is no way the emergency services will be able to provide the number of staff to enable the show to be viable.

Re: Marshalls move

What would it take to turn the old rae thurleigh in Bedford back to a base. Surely this would be big enough for Marshall's operations. I know at the moment it is used for car racing .

A UAV would offer considerable more loiter time than a helicopter.

Reaper drone

I was wondering would it be possible to arm a reaper drone with the LMM missile. It's quite a lightweight system and theoretically a MQ-9 could carry 20. Even in the future the new Sea Venom could also be a option. Both of these could offer a potential adversary for Iran boat swarms.

I also read that the US airforce have stated anyone attempting to force their way into the base will be met with force.

Re: Tristar Air LLC Awarded Refueling Contract

Once again 2 posts about the type. I am pretty sure everybody else knows what they are but the point is you have 2 operational aircraft rather than trying to put out of service aircraft back in the air.i hope the P C brigade are ok with this

C-17

I have been watching a video of a c-17 landing on a dirt strip in less than 3500ft and then take off within 500m.is duxford runway big enough for it to do the same. It would be a great edition to a airshow.

If the US did I really would like to see the c-17 thrown round. I see it back at mildenhall and was impressed with how much it can move.

Right this is just a idea. Recently the red air contract was cancelled and I was thinking of a alternative. In a few years time we are supposed to be retiring the sentinel aircraft and at the same time South Korea are looking into purchasing a similar machine. How about both governments doing a swap...

Tornado f3

Right this is only a what if exercise but before they where retired just how capable could the f-3 have been made. Could ej200 or f414 engines fit. Agile beam radar. And a weapons fit of 6 medium range missiles and 2 ashram.
