Yes, a bit like painting your car headlights black.reheat module wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:12 pmIs the sharp pointy bit at the front being painted at a later date?
Edit: just noted 'Blackjack' had the base grey radome, so I'm guessing is a function of the radar suite.
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

That looks like an absolutely brilliant archive - i'm not local to Valley but I am sure I will spend many hours looking through this - particularly the war-time entries.

Re: Tampa Bay Airfest
Thanks for the link. I have to echo previous comments about the USAF Thunderbirds. They are clearly a very neat & tidy display team but if you include all of the ground based carry-on the display goes on for well over an hour and even if the ground based stuff isn't included it's still nearly an hou...

Also please consider supporting the Squadron Prints business - freebies are nice but wouldn't be possible unless the business is supported with purchases.
(Not named at anyone above by the way - I know it might look like that - just a general statement!)

Soldier - BBC series
I have watched this TV series for the first time tonight and all I can say is that based on this show the British Army is done for! The NCO's seem to be what you expect (good) but the recruits?!? God help us. I'm guessing (hoping!) they have hand-picked a selection of half decent and absolutely usel...

Really? This is scraping the barrel isn't it?
Next thread: "Potential movements 12/10/23 - saw a USAF airman in Fairford Tesco buying Red Bull - he said it was going to be a long day today. Potential arrivals?"

Re: Top Guns Inside The RAF
I think it is 4 jets and is probably a typical TV dramatization of how two jets are always on QRA standby (hence why they said down to 1 jet) with the other 2 requiring a little more prep to get them on standby.

Re: Mig-23 down - Thunder over Michigan
I’m intrigued by the wording in that preliminary report with the backseater being referred to as an “observer”. Obviously in a military capacity the backseater would be a WSO/Navigator etc. but with this aircraft being operated in a civilian guise there would be no need to refer to them as such. My ...

Re: 2024 tickets
It all comes down to supply and demand. It's only worth what people are prepared to pay for it. If everyone said "no that's too expensive" and didn't buy it I'm sure the prices would come down but if it all sells out again (which it will) they'll feel the price hike was justified and continue to cha...

Hi all, Whilst having my lunch at work today I parked my van facing a high-speed railway line (Bathley Lane, Notts) and had a great time watching the trains fly through. I'm not interested in registrations of the trains but I kept thinking "I wonder where that one is going". This got me thinking. Is...

Excellent set - magnificent. Regarding the 'heartbreak', Nimrod XV239 was also lost with all crew:- To continue this theme Jaguar XX750 was also lost on 07/02/1984 with the loss of the pilot. The Sea King XV654 was also written off 21/07/1993 - although this time, thankfully without any loss of crew...
