"Yes, it's an Extender!"

Finally caught one (two, actually) of these in the air today. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53549684123_a047a5a58d_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53548621987_54018437d3_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53548621982_c108ae28fb_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5354862...

Re: Lakenheath back to full strength

Has the Skyhawk flown this year? Considering taking a day off for a trip out on Thursday if I can, but the A-4 is the thing I really want to see most. TIA.

Re: Lakenheath back to full strength

Do we have any idea how long the A-4s will be hanging around? I’m hoping they might still be here in the first week of December.

Re: Indian C-17 at Stansted

Good shot. Did you judge the spot from previous observation? No, this is the first one I’ve managed to see and wasn’t sure how much runway it was going to use so I just went to the mound. I did look on Flickr, Instagram and YouTube for reference but couldn’t find any from previous visits. I really ...

RAF Southend - Typhoon, BBMF & Red Arrows ops

Southend Airport was host to the Red Arrows, BBMF and Typhoon demo team over the weekend for a number of airshow bookings in the South East. Here's a few from the weekend. Lancaster caught me out taxiing to the intersection to backtrack, so this one was shot through the fence. https://live.staticfli...

Re: Retro CC-150 in Stunning Stansted Skies

i,m not sure why an aircraft with the union flag on the tail is gaudy or tacky. Look at it and compare it to aircraft other nations use in a similar role then? There's one at the top of this thread - it proudly carries the Canadian roundel and flag, without being plastered in it in such a loud and ...

Re: Retro CC-150 in Stunning Stansted Skies

Thanks for all the comments, I think they were the most perfect skies I've ever photographed, just an ever-changing backdrop as I panned with the subject. Aye that CC-150 is a looker. Would be nice if '336 was painted in a retro VC-10 style scheme rather than the 'paint swatch' it currently wears. Y...

Retro CC-150 in Stunning Stansted Skies

A few military flights due into Stansted this evening lured me over. The gaudy VIP Voyager was the first one, bringing the PM back from the NATO summit but the light was abysmal. Shortly after the retro-liveried CC-150 was due to arrive, and the sun came out just in time. Thereafter it was just the ...

Nice ones Andy. I did wonder how departures might look from the mound when the formation was lifting. I was pinning my hopes on them hover taxiing via Uniform.

Guessing POTUS will be a PM arrival?
That’s the burning question now, isn’t it? Some time over the weekend I assume.

Re: 'Nighthawk' helis at Stansted

Super light You must be well pleased with these Yeah, we got lucky with the light for a change. Pretty happy with the VH-3 shots as I've never chased after them before, always concentrated on the jets with a POTUS visit. Chinooks not my finest shots. Added an extra pic of the other VH-3 to the open...
