Re: Scampton 33 Flight - Waddington 15.6.20

Nice catch. I'm kicking myself as I drove past the runway 02 end at about 1.20 but didn't have my radio on! Were you in the car parked in the field entrance?

Re: Affinity Photo discount

Ashley, I've not yet had the opportunity to use it much, but have found the basic tasks fairly intuitive.

There is a 90 day free trial if you wanted to try it before committing to buying.

Re: Nikon D7100 Upgrade

If you want to stay with Nikon and the DX format then the Nikon D500 would be the obvious choice. If your budget doesn't stretch to that then the D7500 is a very good alternative (think of it as a D500 lite). Both use the same sensor and have excellent autofocus. I have used the D7100 and D7200 in t...

Probably only one or two flights a month. Last ones I heard were on 28th October when unusually there were two flights on the same day, callsigns SCAMPTON33 and SCAMPTON35.

Re: Non-exercise ops on Thursday 12th?

Two flights each of four German Typhoons have recently departed, so yes they are flying today.

ZJ694 flew later in the morning, so should be your missing Sentinel.

Re: RAF Sentinel’s?

They don't seem to have been flying much over the last few weeks, but ZJ692 and ZJ694 have been active at Waddington in August.

Landed at 15.44 & Waddington referred to it as an Islander, so Islander it is!

Re: Bobcat

light brown twin enginged civvy type
It was PA-31 G-SCTR which seems to be operating regularly from Waddington.

Bobcat 18 stated that he had fixed undercarriage, so not a PA-31.

Hi TM74, there were actually 8 F-16's and 8 F-15's. In landing order from 14.05: 87-233 F-16 87-244 F-16 97-220 F-15 97-222 F-15 85-487 F-16 86-307 F-16 88404 F-16 "482 FW" 86-319 F-16 91-301 F-15 91-306 F-15 880405 F-16 "93 FS" 87-287 F-16 91-303 F-15 98-135 F-15 98-131 F-15 97-219 F-15 D-Day speci...

Re: Mirrorless or not?

The size of the sensor makes no difference, the "brightness" (for want of a better word!) of the light falling on the sensor is the same on a DX sensor as it is on an FX one.

So an exposure of, say, 1/1,000 sec at f8 on an FX camera will also be 1/1,000 sec at f8 on DX.

Hope that makes sense!

Re: Mirrorless or not?

Also on full frame my lens will be a 2.8 rather than loosing a stop to F4? Your lens will still be f2.8 on DX, same as FX, so you won't lose a stop. However you will lose one stop if you use a 1.4x converter on it. For extra reach I can thoroughly recommend the Nikon 300mm f4 PF. It's compact and l...

Waddington 30/04/19

"NAF73" C-130 G-273 performed a few approaches/circuits earlier, followed by a single overshoot by "Ratch71" F-15E 91-329.
