Re: Google Earth F15's

The two mentioned ramps don't have enough room for all of the Lakenheath fleet, so clearly some of them are parked in shelters.
It's just much easier to operate from a flightline.

Unlike the UK, most countries do not fit all of their aircraft with the radar.
One in three is not unusual.

1030L Thur 15th. Also, anyone for the 3x UH60 nearby. 431, then two that looked like 367 and 467. FR 24 quote 11-20431 for 1. Assuming they all had the last 3 in white, they will have been these three UH-60Ms from 4-3rd AVN at Hunter, all passed through St Augustine earlier in the week: 11-20387 11...

Re: EDDS MIL Moments

Yes, but the two in the photos are from 1-3rd AVN, based at Ansbach, not 1-6th CAV which is the rotational unit from Fort Riley. Their machines are older, FY14-FY18.

Re: Al Fursan MB339's

The photo sites have not used an incorrect source, they have just quoted what was on the plate. There have been many problems with MB339 c/ns over the years, caused by the same c/n being allocated to two aircraft. The batch from around 6711 to 6741 was affected. MM54514 was one of those aircraft. I ...

Re: Fairford 1987 Chilean Pitts c/n

The aircraft coded 2 in 1987 was c/n 2232 (c/n checked).
The aircraft coded 2 in 1989 was c/n 2235 I believe, although I don't have a record of it being checked.

Re: New Cabs for USCG MH-60T's

I think that us “spotters” need to remember that the actual airframe makes up a small percentage of the cost of an aircraft. As it says, the USCG “will remove all dynamic (moving) components, digital cockpit, mission systems and engines”. So a lot of dollars worth. So as far as they are concerned it...

Thanks for that, but I think 164859 was reported as YW/21 in May07 - not impossible that it reverted to its old code after a MEU period I guess.

It might help if you said what colour scheme the Tornado was wearing (grey or camo).
If it was grey, then MM7022 is likely.

Edinburgh 29th December 1989

I believe an Army Gazelle visited Edinburgh on 29th December 1989 as "AA386".
Can anyone identify it please?
