Re: SR-71 Blackbird question

Paul Crickmore (he is highly regarded as the absolute authority on all things "Black Jets") in his book "Lockheed Blackbird" lists all the Blackbirds as 64 Fiscal. so 17980 is 64-17980. There were no Blackbirds with 61 Fiscals, a very common mistake made. Even an absolute authority can make mistake...

I think the significance of this sighting is that it is one of the four very recently delivered Jupiters. It might well be the first sighting wearing military marks...

Also would a Notam be published at some point?
No reason for a NOTAM to be issued for this deployment.

I still need 10337 and have been thinking of schelpping over to Fairford so I was some what taken aback by hearing it was at a Mildenhall show so I shouldn't need it?

Re: Tanzanians at Prestwick

Mike,
The vast majority of sources go with:
206 RCAF5327, JW9005
115 RCAF5325, JW9006
166 RCAF5326, JW9007
That doesn't mean that the majority are correct though! Might be worth asking the relevant AVDB "updater" for comments.
JW9008/9009/9010 were HS748s.

JW9006 msn 166 ex RCAF 5326.
JW9012 msn 009 ex RCAF 5320.
Hmm. My notes say JW9006 was c/n 115, ex RCAF 5325, with c/n 166 being JW9007.
Can anyone confirm please?

Re: 166694 C-40A & 169334 P-8 OTT Grantham 29.07.2020

Colin, I’ll try to explain this as simply as possible, so everyone please excuse any generalities or shortcuts (and indeed minor factual errors). The first very important thing to bear in mind is that an aircraft does not transmit its serial number. It transmits a hex code. Each aircraft theoretical...

Re: 166694 C-40A & 169334 P-8 OTT Grantham 29.07.2020

169334 belongs to VP-47. But I am a bit bemused by how you managed to tie-up the tactical hexcode to that serial. It could just as easily have been any of the aircraft on the Sigonella detachment...

I went over a year later, on 2Nov98. It might help if you can get some sightings before: 165289 MP08 - not seen 165322 MP12 - agreed 165290 MP09 - was MP07 ???????? MP10 - 165291 16??24 MP13 - 165324 ?????? MP02 - 165285 ?????? MP01 - 165284 Also a UH1 15??81 possibly 158781 - correct, was MP20 1587...

Re: 90th FTS T-38C heritage scheme

The serial on special T-38s is invariably in the same place.
If you look at Matt Ellis' photo of "80 FTW":
https://www.flickr.com/photos/137143839 ... 041391971/
the last four digits 8380 is at the base of the fin.
It usually only on one side.

both 301 and 302 were there.
