A superb event organised by the Turkish Air Force to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Phantom in Turkish Service. The event involved two airframes with multiple passes. My view was a little different to others as my knees wouldn't allow me to get to the top of the cliff so my shots are from fur...
From the recent low-level event in Turkey at the 50th Anniversary celebrations for the F-4 Phantom with the Turkish Air Force. Sometimes you get the lens wrong and the aircraft is a little close.
Hey, that's me on the right on the Scarecrow photo. My knees had completely gone by that stage and couldn't get involved in the various stampedes to get the best location. At least I got on the first bus at the end
Cottesmore... Real shame, they didn't follow the runway as most had assumed. The track took them just south of the base and they were pretty much just silhouettes for us.
Lovely selection and presentation. I enjoyed the sequence of the Blue Impulse, along with the cheeky Phantom. Thanks.. I enjoyed the chance to take them. The cheeky Phantom was from the Test Sqn at Gifu and was flown by a test pilot. The Eagle was also from Gifu and flown by a test pilot too. The E...
Opinions ? Only trying to help - you mentioned the DX version in the thread title which is a different lens to the FX version and much cheaper. I could have worded that better, I appreciate all the responses, apologies for any offence. Why not go and rent one and get "hands on experience" yourself?...
Nikon's direct replacement for the old 70-300 lens that you have is the Nikkor 70-300mm f4.5-5.6E ED VR AF-P. It is an FX lens. It is however a very good lens with excellent image quality, much better than the old 70-300. Alan Thanks for that info, I'm glad you have actually hands on experience bec...
great shots mate Japan looks great, love to go someday Thanks, Japan is a great military aviation location with lots of air, marine and army flying bases. Access is easy for most bases as long as you have some steps. Locals are helpful with info and are friendly. Traffic around Tokyo is crazy but y...
Thanks guys, I know the new lens will not work with the D300 or D7000, it will work with the D7100 but only on Autofocus and VR as the Firmware on the other two cameras does not support these functions on the camera menu. I already have a Nikkor fixed 300mm with a 1.4 converter which is brilliant. I...
Has anyone tried the AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR lens yet. I have the NIKKOR AFS70-300/4.5-5.6G IF VR ED which is 10 years old now and is back at Nikon for the second time this year for repair. It was always been very sharp and reliable but it may now be at the end of it's useful life. ...
It seemed rude not to see the Japanese Display Team 'Blue Impulse' whilst in Japan so we spent a day and a half at the Airshow. Both days were spent outside as the fist day is for locals only and the second day inside would have meant shooting into the sun. It was a nice little show with great displ...
Thanks for the comments guys, I have loads of shots of the other display items and from activities from the other four days we spent there. Fantastic location but time is running out with the first F-2 replacements moving in later this year.
Out of interest, were you at the Towers for the Saturday shots? Can't quite match the shot angles to backgrounds just yet. Yes, I was at the Peace Towers for the Saturday although from watching the practice earlier in the week we knew we would be a bit under the flying for some of the items. As a r...
I was lucky enough to be able to go out to Japan and include the show for both days. Saturday, which was a much better day, was spent outside and inside on Sunday which was dull and overcast for much of the day. I don't normally post pictures of this size as I use a smaller format for my website. I ...
Lovely shots... We are due therein about 10 days. Are you able to tell me where around the base you snapped these from? Not that hard to find out if you have a look at Google Earth or Google Maps view of the base. ;) Already done that. I was just interested in which shot came from each lo...
