Re: UK Low flying 1970s, 1980s
I recall A10s, usually two or four at a time, flying at around 250 to 500 feet, weaving left and right as they flew, transiting over East Yorkshire usually Southerly over Hedon to the East of Hull. Tornados and Lightnings too, but particularly A10s. This low level corridor seems to be gone now. Grea...

Re: Top Guns Inside The RAF
Think the guy taking the rise out of the pilot doing his pre flight walk around check may be in for a rollicking though.

Re: Another shoot down, this time Alaska
Surprised the media hasn’t got hold of this yet if it’s another balloon/UFO. If manned by extra terrestrials, I’m surprised they are not able to out manoeuvre there American adversaries having presumably travelled space.

Re: Red Arrows in Turmoil ?
Sky News now reporting Red 1 Wing Commander Dave ‘Monty’ Montenegro has been suspended for allegedly having a relationship with a junior member of his team.
Got to say, it looks like the demise of the team.

Re: Red Arrows in Turmoil ?
Surprised the ‘green eco warriors’ of the world haven’t managed to get them banned from doing their thing by now, especially the coloured dye they kick out. Don’t get me wrong, they wouldn’t be the same without the smoke! I for one have always loved the Reds and they have been great ambassadors for ...

Don’t think Boris will get his extra arms and equipment to Ukraine now as promised yesterday. Got to feel for the people of Ukraine. So uncalled for. Sad day for the world.

B1 with swing wing stuck
Does anyone recall the time a B1 out of Fairford could not pull his wings forward whilst in flight?, and after much deliberating with Fairford Ops and inflight manuals, I believe they ended up diverting to Germany, possibly Ramstein. Not sure of the outcome. Believe it must have been late eighties or...

STRIX flights
Quick question. Why is it that probably 90% or more of STRIX flights out of Mildenhall, both day and night, appear to see them operate in AARA 8 and then take the almost same route to and from the Lake District. Why do they rarely go elsewhere in the U.K.? Surely there is more training areas for the...

Pairs landings and take offs
Back in the old days, there were regular take offs and landings by pairs of fighter aircraft, Lightnings, Phantoms etc. and yet today one does not see this at fighter stations quite as often. My question is, why did they do this? Was it a method of quick despatch and recovery of aircraft, or was it ...
