Re: A400 woes in the news

There have been a number of Parliamentary questions, and questions to senior MoD officials, none of it looks good for the MoD, but not every nation is having these problems. Countries like Malaysia and Turkey are getting pretty good reliability out of their aircraft, its a hit and a miss. Some natio...

Re: Current RAF aircraft

If everyone thinks the numbers are bad now, wait until after October 31, especially if we leave the EU with no deal. .....when we will have saved £39bn. That's not a dividend because we benefit more from being in than out. Current estimates suggest £95 billion of extra borrowing per year will be ne...

Re: RAF to get second hand jets in wedgetail buy

The RAAF bought secondhand A330s to boost its KC30 fleet (they were built after the first and before the second KC30s)…. They are the first and so far only MRTTs to be converted from second-hand/used aircraft, but fitted the need as they were built in close to the same batch/production block as the...

Re: RAF to get second hand jets in wedgetail buy

Boeing 737-700 is still in production, the US Navy and Marines are still taking delivery of C-40s which are essentially the same airframe. It is likely that the RAF which had some of the last 707s off the line for their E-3s, will also have the last 737-700s.

It is carrying a sensor called Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) which is derivative or development of the LSRS carried by the P-3s.

Can anyone advise when the last one visited Warton? Seems like quite a while ago? They used to visit 2-3 times a month?

Re: UK Orders Wedgetails

No modifications for probe-drogue refuelling planned for the new E-7s, been told that the endurance meets the RAF needs. Any aerial refuelling requirements will be met by allies and the number of boom-equipped tankers in Europe is rapidly increasing. Hopefully the UK never buys the travesty that is ...

Two F-35s are also heading for Switzerland as part of trials to support the procurement of a new fighter there. Two jets for two weeks in late-May-early June.

Marshall is currently building the fuel tanks for the RAF's P-8...paltry workshare. E-7 would be conversion from green airframe to Wedgetail.

The Ministerial Statement is interesting, stating that two more E-3Ds will be removed from service, leaving a fleet of four.

UK Orders Wedgetails

Just announced... Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has signed a $1.98Bn deal to purchase five E-7 aircraft. The E-7 fleet will replace the current Sentry aircraft and ensure the continued delivery of the UK’s Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) capability. Named “Wedgetail” by the Australia...

The pusher isn't being used, it probably won't be for the first few flights.
