Re: Cosford Show Aircraft Moves Shawbury

All displays have been delayed due to a drone infringement between Cosford and Shawbury which was reported around 4pm local, first aircraft just off Cosford now at 16.50. At least the weather is a bit better!

MOD Stafford

Does anyone want to see a regular MOD Stafford (or Beacon Barracks) thread? It is regularly used by military helicopter for refuelling (there has been a Merlin and Wildcat in there this morning). Traffic climbing out of there often stays low level and doesn't always pop up on 360Radar until much fur...

ZM504 returned to Shawbury late morning of the 23rd
ZM519 tried to do like wise later that day but had to divert into Cosford due to weather at Shawbury.
Believed to have night stopped.
Thanks

Re: Junos 22JAN19

Four routed back to Shawbury direct from Middle Wallop on Friday 25th, landing back from 12.25 in this order:
ZM527 as SYS85
ZM508 as SYS43
ZM524 as SYS65
ZM520 as SYS93

Not sure when 519 came back as I saw it operating out of Shawbury at 10am on the 25th.

Re: Conversation Centre open.

I remember seeing the Chippy, but there was no Bulldog next to it on 13/10. It seems like exhibits move around on a regular basis but they don't bother updating the website. Here's a photo of where XX654 was in October 2007............. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4322/35845303980_15d701a721_b.j...

Re: Conversation Centre open.

Mike, don't worry it will give you a good reason to go back! In fact there is an open cockpit evening on the 7th December if there are any tickets left. On the 19th October, the Bulldog XX654 was under the port wing of the Comet with the silver Chipmunk. I didn't go back in this hangar while visiti...

Re: Claw 1 & 2 PD

Bucky, 97-0303 and 97-0321 were both operating in the NWMTA that morning with Claw callsigns but I can't tell you for sure as there were four up at the same time and some came back via the Lichfield corridor.

Re: Conservation Centre open.

I guess if you were there in 07 then the Cold War hangar was open and the BA fleet had gone to Duxford? There are four hangars though so hope you managed to find them and I would say that hangar 3 (Warplanes) seems pretty crammed and tricky for photography with all the German aircraft in there now. ...

Re: Conversation Centre open.

Thanks for the summary Rob, I was there today (Thursday) and was amazed at the progress they have made on the Hampden and Wellington in the last year. Not sure exactly when XZ997 arrived but I saw it there when I had a walk around on 19th October. A few more Jags were out today: GR3: XZ117/ES GR3As:...

Here's another log then: Night flying tonight despite the rain are ZM505, 508, 510, 512, 514, 515 and 530. So far two have done the VFR nav down to Shifnal - Coal Port - Much Wenlock - Church Stretton etc others are just in the Shawbury zone. I have known them over the house after 23.00! Earlier in ...

Re: Tornado GR4 Fleet General Info

ZA585/054 arrived at Cosford this afternoon A "new" grey GR1 appeared outside on October 9th, presumably to make space for the GR4s. By the 11th I could read the XV Squadron mark from the train but the top section of the tail was missing. I went had a look today from the car park near Cosford Stati...

Re: Mildenhall closed 5th October/9th October

Ah okay thanks. Things are so boring on the west side of the country now all we can hope for is something interesting to pop through the Lichfield corridor! There is only so much excitement you can get from MRTTs and Junos.

Cheers, have a good evening!

Re: Mildenhall closed 5th October/9th October

Does anyone know if the three KC10s that are in/coming in are linked to the F18s at Lakenheath? Presumably they will be around all weekend if the base is closed?

Many thanks
