Prestwick this morning...
Experienced a pathetic and very immature reaction from a young man at the fence line at Prestwick this morning! As I was in the area I decided to call by to see if there was any JW traffic in. I was sitting in my car enjoying a coffee when another car pulled up and reversed alongside me. Out gets a ...

The End of an Era at Lossiemouth Pt3
A few photographs from the Tornado GR4 Marham Wing's display marking the disbandment of XV (R) Squadron on Friday 31 March (I understand that the four GR4s from Marham were from 12 (B) Squadron, but haven't been able to confirm.) As with the last day of XV (R) Squadron GR4 flight operations from Los...

RAF Chinook at Fort George, Inverness-shire
Chinook HC4 ZA705/AN, from RAF Odiham, operating from Fort George, Inverness-shire, on 1 March 2017. It was working with 3 Scots (Black Watch) who were training on Ben Wyvis in Easter Ross, Scotland. During its time up north, it was based at RAF Lossiemouth. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/729/3307659...

Sorry, missed the entry! I was looking for aircraft type first, not serial number (which obviously was not visible at 1,000')!

Re: Log Lossiemouth - Wed 5/10/16
A four-engined jet aircraft (KC-135?) flew over Portknockie just after 1100hrs this morning, heading north. She was flying at about 1,000'. Once over the sea she banked to port so I thought she was heading into Lossiemouth (she was soon lost in the cloud). Anyone else saw this or knew what it was?

Excellent set of shots Niall.
I particularly like the acute low light shots and the Luftwaffe Tornado landing in damp conditions has great atmosphere!

Lutwaffe Tornado ECRs grounded???
I was on the fence line by 202 Squadron at RAF Lossiemouth yesterday lunchtime when I received a call telling me that there was a post on Facebook (?) saying that all Luftwaffe Tornado ECRs had been grounded. This apparently explains why the Germans came out to fly on Tuesday only to return to their...

Re: Noise complaint at RAF Valley
.......and no doubt the Estate Agent took them to view their new house during a weekend................. In one case Mike it was better than that! At Tain a local councillor bought a house overlooking the Dornoch Firth. Maybe where he lived before was much quieter but once he'd moved he u...

Re: Noise complaint at RAF Valley
There have been exactly the same situations at RAF Lossiemouth and at the ranges by Tain. In all recent cases the complainants had only relatively recently moved into these areas so their complaints lacked objective credibility!

Re: Interviews with past and present aircrew
To interview serving UK military aircrew (RAF, RN or British Army, and their reserves) you will require formal permission from the MoD. This formal permission is regardless of whether you are a private individual or a profit-making organisation. The rules have been tightened in recent years and it i...
