I believe they are building a temporary lorry park. As to why it is outside the base I have no idea. The mounds are the removed top soil which is the property of the golf club.

This subject is broadening out away from the strict definition of the "undershoot area." Also on the direct flight line are the 9th Tee, the 8th Green and the front portion of the 7th Tee of the Old Course. Golfers are very regularly on these areas as jets are on approach. My source is reliable in that he works on the base at Kinloss and is involved in the exercise. Reasoning I was given is that it is just too expensive to keep Lossie open over the weekend.

Heard today that all of the Gripens are moving to Kinloss on Friday, including ground crew etc and returning to Lossie next Monday, as Lossie is closed over the weekend.
