Redlands Air Fest 19 - Day 1

Catching up on some airshow shots from this year, so here's a selection from 2 days spent at Redlands in California back in May. I haven't enjoyed an airshow so much for a long time! Great flying, interesting weather and a lovely small airfield for atmosphere.....oh and the amazing backdrop! Apologi...

2/2 shows into the Shuttleworth Season and they're off to a stonker! What an evening it was last Saturday!....Light absolutely fantastic, and some of the best topside passes I've had the pleasure of photographing. 1 http://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/img/s/v-3/p2884134755.jpg 2 http://mictheslik.zenfoli...

A day at Komatsu

As I catch up with more Japan photos, I get to Komatsu. Home of plenty of JASDF F15s, including the brightly coloured aggressor squadron. Unfortunately they didn't fly when I was there, but there was a sporty display from the based U-125 and MH60. All shots were taken from the superb viewing deck of...

A day at Iruma

Back in March I once again found myself with a spare day in Tokyo and ended up having a decent day at the fence at Iruma...Blue skies and Japanese exotica: What more could you want! I'm gradually catching up with editing, so be ready for Komatsu, Gifu and Hyakuri! 1 http://mictheslik.zenfolio.com/im...

Weston Air Festival 2017

A selection from Brean Down yesterday....some nice passes from the jets, but the hot weather brought unmanageable heathaze, so many shots were thrown away! Highlight came an hour after the show finished when the star of the static decided to pay a visit on the way back to the Helicopter Museum...jus...

Re: Miho Airshow ~ 28th May 2017

Very nice....love the c1s pushing the crates out!

Also good to see someone else make the trek to Miho....although you had better weather than when I was there for the show in 2014!

The End of the Film - Larissa 2017

I've finally got around to editing my shots from Greece two weeks ago. A sad occasion and the end of the Recce Phantom in Europe. Having never been to Greece before, let alone to photograph military aircraft, I was unsure what to expect. I needn't have worried: The squadron and HAF personnel were ex...

Re: LFA7. Record breaker?

I believe there was a day back in 2009ish when the French alphajets were at Valley where the French alone contributed around 50 passes.....I was in the lakes and got a single Tucano

I imagine the true answer to your question would be 30 or 40 years ago though!

Re: Best European show?

Depends what you want? Good light? God chance of Eastern European aircraft? Good setting? Easy to get to?

I wouldn't bank on Kecskemet as there have been rumours for the past 4 years and nothing has come of them..

Ex Forest Light 17: USMC Ospreys in the Wild

This is possibly one of the most ridiculous set of photos I've had the pleasure of taking! Yesterday, I got back from 3 weeks in Japan. I've been a couple of times now, so was happy to take a break from sightseeing on a few days to indulge in a bit of photography. In the next few weeks I'll be putti...

Re: Japan trip

Depends what you want to see, how many days you've got, access to a car (or use of trains) and whether you have people with you who don't want to look at aeroplanes all day :P I can help with Hyakuri, Gifu, Komatsu, Iruma, Atsugi and Miho...I'm sure plenty of others on the board will be able to offe...

This is a Nasa picture showing how the equator had moved in just one year, supposed to have been a movement of the north pole by 40 miles a year and getting faster at an increasing rate, its been reported that once the equator has moved past 40deg - it becomes a point of no return and the earth wil...

BIAS 2016 - Lovely LanceRs

Back in July I made a trip to Romania for the annual Bucharest Air Show. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the year. Despite the slightly haphazard organisation (the final date was only announced a month or so before the show!) the actual event was superb. A full review can be found here ...
