Re: Passenger accidentally ejects from Rafale

My understanding is that the auto eject is controlled by the front seat, and only when selected. Further, it never works the other way round - i.e. Captain can eject both, but passenger can't.

Hope so too Mark. Thirteen months in Sharjah 1969 showed me how to cope with being isolated.

Can't wait to get back on parade. See you soon.

Re: F-15 venting fuel?

When adjustment to all up weight is required (dumping fuel) it is normal procedure to proceed to "The Lake" to perform this activity.

Handed over to Humberside for the ongoing.

Re: 2020 Typhoon Display Pilot?

Thanks reaper, NOTAM probably removed due to excessive wind forecasts.

In fact, this afternoons wind as advised to all returning pilots was on average 210 at 18 knots.

Hence, ideal to fit in a practice - and of course Typhoon 88 first run in is a display practice.

Re: 2020 Typhoon Display Pilot?

Making my way to CBY this afternoon, late start night flying, scanner on. Approx 14.40, Typhoon 88 talking to tower, "making my first run in". Practice display, perhaps not clearly visible - partial cloud at 2,400 feet, scattered at 3,000. Was I the only one aware, not a whisper of this anywhere els...

Re: ** Tuesday Club.. Info, Updates & Messages **

The status and activity at CG1 remain as in previous weeks. The cones remain to indicate no parking within some 50 metres of the gate. Cars, vans lorries and articulates continue to enter and leave in large numbers. Whilst 2 or 3 cars could be discretely parked, any more would cause an obstruction t...

F35B/McLaren

Was on parade at CBY back in the day when display pilot Sqdn.Ldr. Jim Walls thrashed the Bugatti Veyron 3-0 with his Typhoon. None of us believed that The Hampster was driving the Bugatti. Have this evening watched the F35B show the £2M McLaren what it's all about. Again, can't believe the TV man wa...

Re: 2020 Typhoon Display Pilot?

As reported elsewhere by Administrator Gary, the 2020 display pilots callsign is Typhoon 88.

Whenever you hear this callsign it will be a practice display.

Initially he will be not below FL150, then not below FL100 etc etc, and it will be March before he is active and/or visible in the CBY area.

Re: ** Tuesday Club.. Info, Updates & Messages **

No mound dwellers visible above ground level today, perhaps waiting for the rearranged soil to settle. Plenty of flying activity, and part of the road traffic at the gate included a Bulgarian articulated lorry - not a problem, they are NATO members. Tyrant 42, playing catch up, told tower he was ski...

We trust that you will all join us in wishing our part timer Jimbo a very happy 86th birthday.

His time in the RAF Regiment only took him to Gibraltar, where perhaps the fresh air did him good, as he still enjoys sitting at The Gate drawing on a cigar.

Quite right slogen, 75mm (3in in old money), is good enough for anyone.

They're all really really good, but let's not forget our EU friends of the Frecce type.

Re: 2020 Typhoon Display Pilot?

NOTAM for official practice will come along eventually. Imminently, the new and retiring display pilots will be up together as part of the normal training/handover. Practising typical display procedures at altitude away from base. Listen out for callsigns Typhoon 29, but most important Typhoon** whi...

Re: ** Tuesday Club.. Info, Updates & Messages **

A busy day at the gate with plenty of activity from all 4 Squadrons. Plenty of ground aborts, encouraging the serviceable one to give us an afterburn departure which with a cloud base less than 2,000 feet really did sound the business. Very pleased to report that the mesh fencing has been completely...
