Re: Akrotiri return

Whilst next week is 6 weeks from departure we mustn't get too excited - 5 weeks have passed since 21 May, and only now have they flown non strike mission. Would seem a contradiction if they return next week, and then of course we have the rest and recuperation farce, we'll have to wait and see Grimly.

Re: F35 flying on return from Akrotiri

Made me smile Supra, and reminded me of traveling to south Wales to sign up. After we had signed, and been shorn, a disciplinary man advised us that regardless of training we should expect no rights and even less privileges. I remember, to this day, that lovely Irishman Cpl Gilligan and thank him fo...

Re: ** Tuesday Club.. Info, Updates & Messages **

Only very small improvement in Owens leg, still swollen and he cannot put weight on the leg. He is able to move around in their house on crutches, although with difficulty, and hopes to be back on parade this coming Tuesday. Both Owen, and also Chris, should be admired for their determination - he i...

Re: F35 flying on return from Akrotiri

I must confess, I find all this rest and recuperation a bit difficult to grasp. In the late 60s I worked on Victor tankers, fully operational taking the UK's finest to and from. We were sent to the far east for a month, part of which included a week in Darwin. Arriving shortly after midnight we were...

Re: RAF Coningsby Runway Works Info

The RAF Coningsby official info reported by Aviation News advises that all runway work will be performed overnight and will retain any QRA facility. Further, daytime flying will continue as normal. Given that any 3/11/41 Sqdn night flying requirements would be more than covered by ongoing QRA runway...

Re: ** Tuesday Club.. Info, Updates & Messages **

Owen still cannot put foot on floor, or put any weight on it, and will return to physio on Sunday - calf also very swollen.

I have not met anyone yet who is in any way pleased with their knee or hip replacement.

Re: Holbeach AWR Log May 2019

Knife 71, slow low approach to CBY shortly before 15.00, then to Holbeach.

Told to hold for 15 mike whilst range cleared - believed to be a pair of Typhoon.

Owen finally rose from his hospital pit yesterday as the knee improves.

Sadly his blood pressure remains low, and he is being retained in hospital until this is sorted.

Re: ** Tuesday Club.. Info, Updates & Messages **

One of our long serving members, Owen, attended hospital Wednesday last for yet another knee replacement - should have been hopping about the following day. Annoyingly, things have not gone to plan and he has been transferred to another hospital for further treatment and investigation. Trust that al...

Re: PDA day date

Dakota 99/98 (pilot change), numerous practice displays on Tue 07.

Noted, Lancaster not up yet.

In many previous years, Typhoon has completed his final practice in the morning followed by arrival of the examiner from Northolt under an Ascot callsign, before PDA in afternoon.

Re: Ad Hoc Log - 03/04/2019

Thanks Dave,

Plenty of action, you just need a few F15 and F35 practice diversions to really make the day.

Don't forget, Jimbo's callsign Typhoon84 means you are about to be treated to a practice display, which after PDA later this month becomes display callsign.

Re: Raf tonkas

No problem, have a lengthy look at the Marham section wherein you'll find where every one went.

The last few did not go to rtp, and a small number will be on parade at selected bases.

Should keep you busy for a while, all the best.

Shall look forward to return of radar circuit over my back garden, and perhaps increase in activity as they familiarise with new (to F35) approach procedure.

Never a problem hearing the Pratt and Witney approaching.
