RAF Valley

FJT is going to continue - albeit reduced - to meet OCU slots and maintain QFI currency. Lots of work going on to enable this to happen safely and within the CV19 guidelines.

Re: RAF Valley 5 Feb.

Great photos from one of my favourite bases. Always wondered why the T2 is cleared to taxi with canopy open but the T1 isn’t The T1's canopy supports do not enable it to be taxied with the canopy open plus the canopy seals on the T1 inflate when the engine is started and so the canopy had to be shu...

The Loop 0% Any bookings by Visitors for the Loop will be rejected. Is this confirmed? Would have been some great photo ops. Yes for the exact reason you asked, hence why no "Makos” from their recent deployment escorted by LN crews were not allowed to do the Loop. The Ban which came in place this y...

Doubt so early in the course she would be wearing the HMSS certainly as a Student. If I was told correctly it stands at 3 on the Typhoon now.

Lt Danielle Welch, Ex "ab-initio" Lynx helicopter pilot.

She's not the first RN Pilot to go to Typhoon either.

Re: US F15e pilot displays Welsh flag over Snowdonia

Sorry to drag up old ‘news’, but I’ve seen this (non)-story mentioned on various Mach loop Facebook groups. A few people saying this photo has “caused all sorts of trouble”, rumours of the Lakenheath pilots only doing one lap of the Mach loop now instead of two? Any truth in any of this? I can’t se...

Re: US F15e pilot displays Welsh flag over Snowdonia

Different rules for different airforces. The RAF don't like Gopros on the suction mount in the cockpit, the USAF us it all the time. As for the flag there has been many used before so this is nothing new. The following has been used by WSO's down in the Low Level environment. Florida State Universit...

Re: IX (B) squadron "aggressors"

RAF Lossiemouth welcomed a new, fourth operational Typhoon squadron to augment its mission to protect UK and NATO airspace today. The personnel and aircraft of IX(B) Squadron will be at the heart of the UK’s Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Force, ready to take off within minutes of an alert being trigger...

Supra - calm down, I was referring to no more low flying for Tornado.
Still wanting to know who the "aircraft safety board" are..
The ''MAA'' Military Aviation Authority and Command Flight Safety Officer would be a good guess.

Re: Machloop ban

It's all a knee jerk reaction IMO to a 'near miss' back in December, during the Airprox review it was decided by DCom Ops to halt all Low Level flying until the GR4 OSD on safety grounds, nothing to do with fatigue of the Jet or no longer a need to train Low Level.
