Re: Red One in black

Used to love winter training in the 1980s/early 90s with stray Hawks in their practice displays. Always a chance to bag something usually from Valley plus in there old red/white/blue scheme they were easy to read off.

Re: Serial lists

Good Morning Crecy publishing Military Aircraft Markings by Howard J Curtis for £12 is worth a purchase is in its 40th Edition and is published in the Spring each year. A handy go to book (there are updates available online for owners of the book apparently) and with the days of fewer bases and airc...

Re: REQ Hotels with views of approach

Living in Lincoln, I haven't stayed there but the Premier Inn at Canwick is close to being in line with Runway 20 (the more usual runway) although maybe one or two miles from threshold, I cant think of any accommodation any closer. Also its just across the road from the International Bomber Command ...

Re: British Phantom Aviation Group (Official Topic)

Very excited about this project, they are proper enthusiasts at BPAG, its been a rocky road so far but hopefully its looking like there is going to be something to get there teeth into and enjoy the results. Look forward to seeing the three marks under one roof together and if Black Mike & 490 are a...

Re: REDS

A couple of weeks ago I was doing some clearing out of the loft and came across some Aviation News mags. Foremost in one was an article about the imminent move of the Reds from Scampton to Cranwell, with the expectation that they would continue to display over Scampton. Date on the magazine - 1995....

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

thats going to be abit of a detour for some peeps A17/Wisbech/ 1101/ A17 a big loop The original post is not quite correct. The bridge will still be open but single lane controlled by temporary traffic lights. Time taken to get across could be horrendous  Shouldn't be too bad at 2am when a fe...

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

What concerns me more than anything, is that once the WAVE is rammed full and the hatches are battened down (it won't take long to fill, and it WILL happen). Where does everyone else go, are they just expected to sling their hooks? You're going to have a lot of p*ss*d off people, who've travelled f...

Re: Ex Cobra Warrior parking restrictions

Me push biking up there just keeps getting better (and cheaper!) I have the feeling from the Facebook group this is going to get messy in a hurry. Its a shame I was there for ACMI days, Shacks retiring, Vulcan departing on its last flight (the first one) all were well attended and went without a hit...

Re: WK163 Canberra?

It is always emotive when VTTS et al are discussed. But agree the Canberra looks a long way from being a flyer, with less air shows to display it at, rising insurance costs, lack of corporate interest and without the Joe Public pull of the Vulcan its tricky to see what the next step is. With no Hang...

Re: Wattisham Wing Scramble Diorama

Nice build first time I have got to compare the J and FGR2, you can really see the extra drag the speys brought with them!! Also always nice to see two of my favourite squadrons together. Thanks for sharing.
