LK331 which visited RAF Mildenhall on May 31st, 2003 was in the old gray scheme without any markings, except for the Star and Bar. It was most likely the first P-3 SPA of VPU-1. My guess is that it came in from Brunswick and was on its way to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Or...

Just for the record: VP-47 has been deployed to Sigonella since December 2011 and has taken over some of the Orions of VP-45 including 159507

Since 2005 at least a VPU Special project Orion has been based at Bagram AB in Afghanistan. The aircraft is changed every 9 months.
