Re: RAF Aircraft Currently Stateside
The 3 early F-35’s are seemingly being “Dewired” and delivered to Marham as they are available for ops being TR2 jets and TR3 jets only being used for training Remember they want 24 to go sailing for Months on end while still qualifying new pilots and maintainers so they need all the early jets they...

Re: Two more US F-35 Sqns to the UK
What Army unit at where? I assume you are referring to Leeming? Which isn't Army it's still RAF. Even if the only unit with jets is a joint Qatari Hawk unit. And the Draken L159s and Top Aces Alpha Jets Leuchars is home to a army engineer unit Would say the fuel situation is cheaper to fix than hav...

Re: Two more US F-35 Sqns to the UK
Can I throw Leuchars into the mix, equipped with 3rd Gen Has’s Airfield is still operational.Nothing says the deployment has to be in East Anglian or even England as the statement mentions UK.Might be a outside shot but it’s easier to relocate a army Engineer regiment than rebuild the likes of Alconb...

Re: RAF Typhoon Squadron markings
It all started going wrong in my opinion when they went from individual squadron marked aircraft with E.G. IX(B) jets being A* 14 being B* 17(F) being C* and 31 being D* for example in the case of the Bruggen wing and the Tornado F3 with 43 being G* and 111 being H* to a fleet based scheme with code...

Re: Question for the regulars re 493rd
Think each squadron has a strength of 24 jets with the 493rd having less as some have already been reassigned to units in the states.
31 jets away from probably a strength of about 60 less jets in maintenance or like 84-001 long term broken so I reckon no more than 20 active on base at the minute.
