Re: Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre

Did the council ever give a logical reason for not wanting the the Heritage Centre on site. St Mawgan is pretty massive and would've thought it could accommodate many different multi use activities especially since the demise of the Virgin space venture? Would it surprise you if I said 'No'? The le...

I remember last year Duxford were really hyping up their 50th year of airshows.... struggling to get excited at the moment!

That's a crying shame. Seeing those videos from Oshkosh was exciting enough I had really hoped to see it in the flesh one day.

Re: Coningsby Families Day

Mad that the RAF families days have better flying participation than most public airshows! Unfortunately I can't make this one, but thanks for the info all the same.

It does take a while to get going. Think of how much coal that needs to be shoveled into eight separate boilers.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2023 General Discussion Thread

True but I don't think one has been in the flying display for 13 years or so!

Its weird as I still feel like a BONE and BUFF display are a RIAT staple but... alas.

Re: FRIAT - what is it and is it worth it?

For me FRIAT is the only way to do the airshow. I've been doing it since I was a child, for well over twenty years. It might seem a bit daunting at first, but the FRIAT volunteers (like all RIAT volunteers) are extremely helpful and friendly, and although there is a real focus on photography, i'm no...

Re: Saudi Hawks

MiG Eater. Given that its primarily an RAF families day, with most acts going to RIAT the following weekend. Whats to get annoyed about. Letting the Armed Forces get a day to let their hair down is surely a good thing? Of course i've no objection to them having a families day on base - God knows th...

Re: Saudi Hawks

Any information on timing for events on Saturday 8th July much appreciated. Flying is between 12 and 2. Sounds like it's going to be busy. It actually makes me quite angry that this display is happening "behind closed doors". Traffic will grind to a halt and the entire area will be covered in spott...

Re: Cobra Warrior Take Two 2022.

I had a total failure by planning my visit for 9th September when, of course, nothing happened! Thinking about trying to make it up next week which I think was originally planned as Mon, Weds and Fri - but with the bank holiday on Monday will we lose a day's exercise, or will it just get moved? Woul...

You can just imagine it...

"OK well the bad news is we're unable to mount a QRA response as we're understaffed, but the great news is we just met our diversity targets! Now how's that rainbow Typhoon coming along chaps?"

F-35 Demo Team?

Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been covered but earlier in the year the F-35A Demo Team had a 'TBA' date for December at Lakenheath.

This doesn't appear on their schedule anymore, so I guess its been cancelled - but does anyone know anything about this?

Cheers,

Its a long trek but would definitely make it if I thought there was a chance of catching them!

USAF anniversary display

Hi all,

Last year there was a small series of flypasts for the anniversary of the founding of the USAF. I had heard something might happen this Friday at Mildenhall - does anyone know anything? Trying to decide between spending the day at Mildenhall or Duxford.

Thanks!
