Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules

No one is being forced to take any risks. The assessment is yours to make. John has done what's on offer take it or leave it. Picking his conditions to bits probably won't change things for the better. I don't know him at all as I haven't used the site, but if I were in his shoes and reading this, ...

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules

If people are concerned about touching a gate and a lock after driving to John's site, I'm puzzled as to how they might approach the fuelling of their vehicle on the way there. Wouldn't you use a 20p pair of vinyl gloves for each operation? Freeman I think the point is one of mitigation. Going insi...

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules

To be honest, i'd think a pot of money would be much more hygienic than a lock!

Should not happen but was the car locked
Not really a relevant question if you ask me.

Disgusting behaviour, and not something i'd expect. Hope they catch him/them quickly.

Re: Spotting during the pandemic

Exactly. Its just about common sense. I plan to go to Lakenheath as soon as I am next able to get a day off. However, I will be maintaining social distance at all times, and won't be travelling with anyone outside my household. Ultimately this virus is going to be around for months, if not years. Th...

Re: Spotting during the pandemic

I think the confusing statement in the speech was the 'sunbathing in a park' comment. Obviously, this isn't exercise and so it stands to reason that you can leave your house for outdoor leisure activities that do not involve other people, and that you can do whilst social distancing. For this reason...

Re: Spotting during the pandemic

I think you will find that the vital word is "exercise". Going to an airfield and sitting watching aircraft most certainly would not fulfil that criteria. So don't go and be sensible; a life is far more important than an aeroplane. It was explicit in the announcement that you can sit in a park and ...

Spotting during the pandemic

Please remove if inappropriate, but i'm sure that i'm not the only one wondering... With the PM's speech announcing 'unlimited' exercise and permission to spend time in outdoor public spaces - where does this leave us with spotting at bases? I'm guessing that as long as social distancing is maintain...

Re: NOTAM

I really don't know - but I would imagine the armed forces are keen to continue 'business as usual' as visibly as possible in order to maintain their deterrence. I could be wrong, but I hope not!

Re: Best Vulcan Display Seen?

RIAT 81 Greenham Common. XM594 now at Newark Air Museum. On the Sunday, sitting in the grandstand right in front of the Tower at the 5000' (midpoint) mark. The Vulcan had taxied to the Hammerhead and run the final power checks. It then taxied out to the threshold, but kept moving. I thought it had ...

For what its worth - had a great morning at Lakenheath with plenty of action from 493rd - including a D and the heritage jet (which I thought had been repainted by now!)

Re: Lakenheath Christmas closure NOTAM

Couple of people on Facebook saying return to flying is on Monday - but this might just be gasbagging. I think i'll give it a shot tomorrow... maybe hit Duxford if LN is dead.

Re: Lakenheath Christmas closure NOTAM

I have a feeling a similar NOTAM was posted last year and they didn't fly - but nevertheless... I will probably give it a go!
