standard procudure for any airfield where you drive on taxiways or cross them. All part of the airfield driving permit course from ATC for RAF stations before SATCO signs you off, covers where to stop, check etc, Wittering used to have blue boxes on the roads to stop in when thay had the giant hoove...

That was true before the type was grounded, but not since. Vigilants were gradually beginning to be brought back into service ('recovered') from late 2016 but, as far as I know, the only VGSs operating them recently have been 644 VGS at RAF Syerston and 645 VGS at Topcliffe airfield/Alanbrook Barra...
