Michael Land.

Not sure if here is correct place for this. Mods please move if not. Sadly I have to tell you that Michael Land died earlier this morning. A lifelong aviation enthusiast ,especially the Fleet Air Arm and all things Buccaneer, he was probably known to quite a few members. I will post arrangements whe...

4 x fighters OTT Argyll earlier today.

Anybody able to tell me what the four fighters were, trailing in line abreast formation heading south over Argyll at 1655 today ?

Re: Glasgow KGV Docks Joint Warrior ships/helicopters.

Late afternoon F803 sailed and still had NH90 on deck. The FGS Hessen was starting to leave dock so was a fair bit away from me. Starboard hangar open and looked like a Lynx inside. Surprisingly dark in there! Dutch ships F831 and F802 both had hangars open, One was stacked with boxes and the other ...

Thanks for posting that photo.
F-101C 60029 was at a Lossiemouth air day, 1962 possibly. KB-50J, F-100 and T-33 accompanied it. I was 9!
It was the only 81st TFW one I ever saw.
Heyford ones flew regular approaches to Lossie. Spotter's nightmare trying to get the serials.

Re: Sunday 24th September

The A400M approach on 30 before he went around was reminiscent of those B-52 shots where they are coming in sideways.
No idea what the wind speed was but it certainly was a bit blowy.

Thank you for bringing back some good memories of a sadly missed base.
