Re: BAE redundancies
These redundancies have been made already its just BAe trying to pull the poor old us act! It never stops amazing me how they continue to do this and that the U.K public believe what they are being told by the press its getting boring now!

Re: Two Tornado Sqns to disband
136 Tornado's :S if you count those that are stored at Shawbury you might get close. The real fleet is closer to the 125 mark. There will be another twist to this one yet when the reduction in the fleet as announced in October. It might be an idea to get those GR.4A airframes in the bag sooner rathe...

Re: 18th Feb early start
Cheers Milky, I dare say QO-B will come to light ZK380 could be a candidate although it seems to be an odd code for a twin stick. Thanks for confirming EB-B, I won't say to much as I have a habit of getting peoples backs up when ever I mention the subject on here. But I would expect it to be leaving...

Milky
Tornado GR.4 ZA542/051 should become EB-J if still there.
While I think about it has anyone ever seen ZD996/EB-B actually fly with the squadron since it arrived?
Cheers,
Andy

Re: 18th Feb early start
Next time you see BI it will be going north for a while QO-B is a mystery. The only thing that I can think of is they have made one good airframe out of ZJ940, ZJ945 and ZJ948 all barring 940 have been seen recently.

Re: Cottesmore MATZ
I suspect that there was a faint and distant hope that the airfield may open should the need to dust off a few Harriers come about, looking at it that is becoming less and less likely.

Re: US to build 80 to 100 new stealth aircraft
One thing of interesting that Defence Secretary Gates said recently which has been mentioned in the past by senior USAF staff in interviews. Is that the replacement for the B-52 could be an airliner in the guise of something like for example the Boeing 787 Dreadliner  . As the technology in...

Re: QinetiQ VAAC Harrier XW175
Isn't that what happened to the Phantoms, being scrapped rather than put in museums because it was US Aircraft and not British even though we used it? That was a little different and a little cheeky as the Phantoms never on paper anyway left the US armed services and became part of the dis-arm trea...

Re: QinetiQ VAAC Harrier XW175
Hi, XW175 made her last flight on the 22/09/10, I herd in December that she will go to one of the RAF museums but decisions where on-going as to regards to the tech involved. The VAAC fit belongs to the US DoD and not the UK MoD so comes under eSRS so to display her as she is would require a special...

This is why the navy might be a little less than enthusiastic about it To enable them to be brought up to standard for operations at sea they will need. Fuselage would need salt water protection. Good for Colti I guess )) Living just up the road from Cottesmore I was kinda hoping this would be the future for that airfield. I love airfields like Kemble and the like for seeing aircraft I wouldn't otherwise see before they are parted out. Trouble is non of 'em are near me and a a long drive to...
