Re: Russian aircraft drone attack

Now we had that drone incident last year over our local American bases, and other bases in the world. Its not beyond the realms of possibility that one of these incidents could have been a practice for that mission :ninja: The RAF regiment being sent to investigate just being a cover story..... Of c...

Re: LN Strike Eagles going home

Actually I think you'll find its nothing to do with politics, they are getting old. Just like the older F-16s and A-10s have gone home, along with the F-15Cs that were with the 48th. Not to mention all the F-4s we had when I was a kid. Sure enough, as you get old so do aircraft .. I think you'll fi...

Re: AF1 and gas n go

Thanks for your answers. Does that mean that hypothetically in the event of a nuclear war the President would decamp to an E-4B? Or would that just be battle command staff and he/she simply find the nearest bunker and 'wait for it all to blow over'? (Shaun of the dead pun - well he usually has a bit...

AF1 and gas n go

I’m sure this was answered before, but why does AF1 not simply air refuel from Mildenhall tankers rather than going to the trouble of landing to refuel?

Re: Barksdale Global power museum March 2025

Good to see they are looking after SR-71 17967 - one of the final pair reactivated to be retired again in 1999 - 26 years ago already. Although she ought to be inside since it was delivered pretty fresh from the overhaul during reactivation - be a shame to see them subject to the elements.

Good to see SR-71 17959 - from the one off test Big Tail program to include more defensive and recon systems in the extended movable (up and down for landing) tail.

Re: Aviation Books to read

Everyone probably knows about this, but Duxford has a used book shop with literally hundreds if not thousands of books. All at bargain prices. Worth a look if you're there.

Re: US pausing Military aid to Ukraine

To me it feels like Trump is trying to get Zelenskyy to quit using extortion. Give us your mineral wealth or no peace, no peace deal without stepping down. You need us but we're not going to help you because you didn't say thank you. I keep seeing Trump and Vance being labelled Politicians - they ma...

Re: NATO Future

Putin plays Trump like a fiddle. US media has stopped fact checking Trump, no-one in America seems to call him out for all the lies he spouts.

Unfortunately, unlike Trump, Europe will need to deal with Putin long after Trumps term.

NATO will still be there, but will the US be in it?!!

Re: trump

I think he is the greatest President in US history and possibly the greatest western leader of all time. Republican leaders tend to be better but this Republican leader is better than them all! Hopefully 8 years of Vance to follow! You should be asking yourself - if Trump secures peace who exactly ...

His name is Frank, his username comes from 'Andrew Barclay' which was the name of a company that made locomotive engines for the railways!
Thanks for the correction - easy mistake to make!

Re: Raf museum Hendon

It's a long haul from where I live. Add to that the contributions to Mr Khans benefit fund and it's far from a cheap day out. Add in the traffic etc and it's close to a 'don't bother', which is sad. Theres a tube station quite close by, but I get the sentiment - everytime I visit Duxford I feel fle...

Not sure if you saw my post above Andrew, but I'd possibly be interested in your photographs in a frame if they need a new home.

SR-71 & A-12 Prints

I recently was asked on one of the SR-71 Facebook groups if my artowrk was available as prints, so I added them to my old Redbubble store. Thought I'd share them here. Note, I don't control pricing or postage and I get back the bare minimum £2.50 per sale. https://www.redbubble.com/people/glowinghea...

The SR-71 Blackbird first flew 60 years ago yesterday! Awesome machine, still looks futuristic even today! Still in a class of one, unequalled.

To think the Blackbird in SR-71 guise first flew 60 years ago yesterday, in 1964.

Codename Oreshnik according to Putin. Mach 10 - which makes it difficult if not impossible to protect against. Hypersonic missiles is one area where Russia seems to excel.
