Re: Female B-2 Stealth Bomber Pilots?

Certainly a female voice on at least one occasion heard on the scanner during the recent B-2 TDY at Fairford.

Re: Photo storage

As a storage platform it's fine. Before you buy any of their paid plans, do you have Amazon prime? If so they offer free photo storage - including RAW files - and it's entirely unlimited, as part of your Prime subscription. (I've got about 3TB backed up) Thanks very much Chris, didn't realise that ...

Eyeballed it near Burford this morning without any optics so can only confirm it didn't have a dorsal pod.

Re: The Ashes 2019

Bairstow gone Jim Maxwell sounds far too cheerful on TMS What happened to BBC impartiality? Afraid I'm all for this, really wish that for international matches in all sports where a free to air service broadcasts coverage then the 'home' commentators should be allowed to be as biased as they want...

Re: Video Length Limit on Canon DSLRs

The restriction on max recording time for a single continuous recording is solely down to legal/classification restrictions. If it were to record beyond 29m 59s then it would be classed as a video camera rather than a stills camera and attract a different product classification and I think a differe...

Re: The Ashes 2019

Wonder how different it would have been if some idiot selector didn't risk a clearly not 100% test match fit Jimmy Anderson, Denly at all, Moeen as he clearly is not in decent form with the bat and had gone with Jofra while Jimmy got back up to speed and A.N.Other spinner and batsmen who could have ...

Classic 'birding' fluid head from Manfrotto is the 128RC head - it's about the £79 mark from most places.

Re: Blue skies?

One thing to bear in mind is that if you transpose aircraft taken against grey skies onto a blue sky background, the lighting on the aircraft (presumably no sun) will not match the 'blue skies' where you would expect sun. Having tried to cobble together cricket squad photos taken on 2 different nigh...

Re: Skye's (almost) the limit - wildlife from last week.

Love the pics and particularly the WTE pics. Can I ask which company/boat you used for the WTE shots? Thanks! Although there are a couple of others that offer the trip, we've only ever used Stardust boat trips out of Portree for their 2 hour trip. Still £25.00 even after a few years and we also had...

Re: Skye's (almost) the limit - wildlife from last week.

Just for information your 'Rock Pipit' in pics 4 and 5 is actually a Twite. Nice catch Sorry, that's a Flickr fail, must have copied and pasted with too many images selected! Will correct it asap. Thanks for the heads up! Cheers for the comments all, very much appreciated. Never thought the boat tr...

Skye's (almost) the limit - wildlife from last week.

A very much needed break on Skye for a week or so brought a very changeable weather pattern and some very memorable experiences with the wildlife, the best probably when the camera was miles away in the car (as always). Below, some of the better results of those that allowed close approach and those...

Re: Saturday afternoon wander down the river

Great images as usual Ian. As regards the raptor ID, I think the perched ones are Honey Buzzards and although I'm pretty useless at 'foreign' eagles I'd edge towards it being an Eagle species rather than a Long-legged Buzzard on structure and general colour. Do you get Tawny / Steppe Eagles in your ...

Re: A fantastic Friday morning walk........ I saw an Osprey

Another excellent selection Ian. You're right about the juv Night Heron, that's exactly what it is. I'm not 100% on the Egret but think it might be a juv Western Reef Heron / Egret. I remember a controversial bird in Dorset in the early 2000s that had many people scratching their heads but yours loo...

Re: A429 Fosse Way Overnight closure - Moreton in Marsh

If you're going to be on the Fosse anyway, turn off to Shipston on Stour at Halford at the A429 / A3400 roundabout all the way to Chipping Norton then take the A361 to Burford and join the Red route to Lechlade from there.

A429 Fosse Way Overnight closure - Moreton in Marsh

Hi all, thought this may be of use to some of you travelling down for RIAT during the week as the A429 Fosse Way for about 3 miles north of Moreton in Marsh will be closed from 7pm til 7am Monday 25th June until Monday 16th July (excluding weekends) which of course does include the Friday full show ...

Another batch of excellent shots Ian, love the Rufous Bushchat (or whatever they call it these days) and the wacky coloured lizards!

Pic of the Sandpipers look like (I think) Marsh on the left and Wood on the right.
