Re: Tornado farewell flypast February 2019

Guess that may have been Tornado 4 or 5 that were playing about over Norfolk as there are images of 3 together from Staffs etc doing the rounds on Twitter?

Re: Saturday afternoon wander down the river

Great images as usual Ian. As regards the raptor ID, I think the perched ones are Honey Buzzards and although I'm pretty useless at 'foreign' eagles I'd edge towards it being an Eagle species rather than a Long-legged Buzzard on structure and general colour. Do you get Tawny / Steppe Eagles in your ...

Re: A fantastic Friday morning walk........ I saw an Osprey

Another excellent selection Ian. You're right about the juv Night Heron, that's exactly what it is. I'm not 100% on the Egret but think it might be a juv Western Reef Heron / Egret. I remember a controversial bird in Dorset in the early 2000s that had many people scratching their heads but yours loo...

Re: A429 Fosse Way Overnight closure - Moreton in Marsh

If you're going to be on the Fosse anyway, turn off to Shipston on Stour at Halford at the A429 / A3400 roundabout all the way to Chipping Norton then take the A361 to Burford and join the Red route to Lechlade from there.

A429 Fosse Way Overnight closure - Moreton in Marsh

Hi all, thought this may be of use to some of you travelling down for RIAT during the week as the A429 Fosse Way for about 3 miles north of Moreton in Marsh will be closed from 7pm til 7am Monday 25th June until Monday 16th July (excluding weekends) which of course does include the Friday full show ...

If you can a) hold them steady and b) see and focus anything clearly above about 12x with such a small objective lens then you're doing very very well...

Re: Back in the Land of Sand

Another batch of excellent shots Ian, love the Rufous Bushchat (or whatever they call it these days) and the wacky coloured lizards!

Pic of the Sandpipers look like (I think) Marsh on the left and Wood on the right.

Re: Same place, different birds

Lovely light and photos, not been down in that area since 2000 and that was definitely pre-digital so would love to go back there armed with today's kit. A few identifications... Your Eastern Black-eared Wheatear could be either Desert or Pied Wheatear - sorry I've not seen adults in recent years an...

Re: Fairford activity Wednesday 3rd January 2018

Hopefully not a stupid question, but how do you find out about these NOTAM's? I've tried listing fairford as my favorite on UKGA but I'm not receiving anything. Help appreciated I found I had to set up an 'area' for NOTAMs which for me was just Brize & Fairford and the best thing to do then was to ...

Flightstore Black Friday sale - £1 for most Playsims/UK2000

Probably already complete for most of you but at £1 each for the DVD sets it's a very cheap way of getting backups.

Sadly not all UK2000 titles are on there but a few of the VFR airfields etc.

Re: Website & searchable catalogue building software suggest

Cheers Chris, I did suggest this to him but I think he wants a standalone website for his images rather than just his own Flickr page. I've looked at a couple of websites using Smugmug and this does seem to support searching for images with keywords but I'm not sure how easy this is to set up nor th...

Website & searchable catalogue building software suggestion?

A recently retired friend of mine wants to catalogue and publish his archive of images online on what he hopes to be a catalogued and therefore searchable website. It will be a natural history photo website but I would like to know if any of you on here have used that sort of software for an aviatio...

Birds and beasts from Cornwall

Having worked Weds & Thurs in the SW, I stayed on Land's End for a couple of days in the hope of some vagrant American birds after some suitable weather but as usual was denied until I was heading home over the Devon / Cornwall border! https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4425/37289828386_10187a72e8_b.jpg...
