Re: Harrier at Marham in 2018!

I remember the Air Race and seeing the Harrier depart. If I remember correctly the Navy used a Phantom for their entry.

R.I.P Ron Smyth

It is with great sadness that I received news today of the passing of Ron in late October. Ron flew Hurricanes as a Sgt pilot during the Battle of Britain with 111 and 249 squadrons. He was later commissioned and ended up as a Flt Lt gaining the DFC. The photo shows Ron, second from right, at a pub ...

The Hunter, most beautiful aircraft to grace the skies.
Great photos for me, thanks for sharing.

Re: Happy Days!

Think the Harrier is 1974. I arrived Wittering in June 73 and the aircraft had letter not number tail codes and the OCU used the 'grasshopper' emblem. If I remember correctly - and it was a long time ago - the change over to numerical tail codes and the new squadron style markings was begun in early...

Hunter Anniversay patches

Looking to obtain a patch for the Hunter 40th Anniversary; yellow Hunter outlined in black with black and white lettering. Also any other Hunter patches would be of interest.

5 OTU RAF Aston Down

Wonder if anyone here can help. I'm trying to find the ORB, or equivalent, for 5 OTU during August 1940. Usual searches on the TNA website have proved fruitless. My uncle trained there first on Blenheims then on Hurricanes before joining the fray of the Battle of Britain.

Re: Hovercraft

Went on one to Calais and back c1980. When we arrived at the Folkestone (?) we were told it was cancelled due to stormy conditions then announced it would go but would be a rough ride. I think everybody except me was sick - fantastic ride/flight. http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr148/waghorn41/fo...

R.I.P. Russ Snadden

Just heard that Russ passed away on 3rd March after battling cancer for two and a half years. I worked with Russ on the restoration of the Bf109 'Black 6' during it's time at Northolt - it was hard work but great fun.

And now he's 'slipped the surly bonds of earth'. Fly free Russ baby. :'(

Re: Graf Zeppelin Does... Northolt - 2nd UPDATE!

Great photos, wish mine were as good quality. Pity I couldn't take a photo of every aircraft that passed through our hands southside but I was usually too busy dealing with another aircraft to take photos :( I had a great flight in the Gazelle from Northolt along the Thames to Battersea heliport the...

Re: RAF Pensions

Just sorted my pension out - a year late (my fault due to a misunderstanding and misplacement of a letter from 1978..)! They were very helpful. Best part was the tax free lump sum equal to 3 years pension payments :D

Great shot of a beautiful aircraft - the Hunter of course. The Bucc isn't bad either.

Re: Old 1965 Photograph

Oh wow, I remember a lot of those kits.

In 1962 when I was 8 we lived in London and my father built a load of aircraft and hung them from my bedroom ceiling but I don't think he painted them.

Re: A couple of old Relics in Norfolk......

I probably worked on that GR3. It's been years since I went to Muckleburgh, they had a Hunter there then. Might have to try and pop along next week when I'm staying at Bacton.

Thanks for sharing, I've never been there despite being an old F1 fan, the Gold Leaf Team Lotus and the old Mclaren are the best for me - so many memories.
