Re: Aviation Books to read

Everyone probably knows about this, but Duxford has a used book shop with literally hundreds if not thousands of books. All at bargain prices. Worth a look if you're there. It’s the Duxford Aviation Society shop outside Hangar 5 and also sells kits and other aviation memorabilia. Money raised goes ...

Re: Aviation Books to read

I came across a reference to 92 squadron, a while after reading Sir Geoffrey Wellums account, for the life of me I cannot remember the book or author, but I still have it. The author took command of 92 squadron during the BoB, and described the squadron as very hard to manage, pilots lacking the wi...

Re: Next Generation Air Dominance - Contract Award Today

Isn't it a single engined airframe, to make it lighter but has dual or triple redundancy to keep the single engine running? Basically in essence a twin engined aircraft with advanced technology to have the power and safety and redundancy shrunk down into one power plant. I say 'powerplant' as who kn...

Re: Canada and the F-35

Philly1971 - your POV on F35 - very interesting. You talk about F35 reliability and daily flight ops from Lakenheath - which operates F35A. Sadly the UK didnt buy these, but a couple of questions for you - do you have evidence or stats re reliability of F35A versus F35B ? Is the F35B a more complex...

Re: Canada and the F-35

The real key to the F-35s success isn't stealth, it's the integrated electronics that give the pilot unparalleled Situational Awareness. This real-time data connection totally depends on the US allowing it, if a operating nation upsets the orange man-baby he could force it to be cut, rendering the ...

Didn’t Donald John refer to “Raw Earth” minerals the other day when he lost his temper after soiling his “adult” nappy?

Re: Canada and the F-35

I believe Saab were a close contender for the next generation Canadian fighter, with the Gripen. A fantastic little platform but lacking perhaps in the 5th generation capability and maintenance support intractructure. My feelings on the F35, I think it has its place in a perhaps multi platform air f...

Re: New to FC or not so new? Introduce yourself here.

Hey all, New to the forum! Been an aviation buff for as long as I can remember, mixture of military both current and WW2. A bit of an amateur BoB historian with a wealth of books and literature about this most decisive of battles! In the UK, ripe old age of 52 going on 22! Will contribute where I ca...
