Colombian Pucarás - Feruary 1990

Not as exciting as some of my previous stories, but there aren't many pictures around on active Colombian Pucarás. The Fuerzá Aerea Colombiana (FAC) received three FMA-58A Pucará in 1989 and operated them with Escuadrón de Operationes Especiales No.314 from Base Aérea Capitán Luis Francisco Gómez Ni...

Re: Greenham Common IATS - '77-'83

This does bring back many memories as I too visited several early Greenham Common shows. I camped on a farmer's field converted to a campground for six days during the 1979 event which wasn't the best option due to the rather varied weather. Here are two pictures form the Venezuelan Canberra mention...

Indian Thunderbolts, November 1990

You may say, the Indian Air Force (IAF) never operated Thunderbolts, and you are right, but these Thunderbolts are nine Hawker Hunter from the IAF Aerobatic Team "Thunderbolts"! At its peak, the IAF operated six Hunter Squadrons (No. 7. 14. 17. 20, 27 and 37) but when No.27 Squadron changed from Hun...

Re: Dragonflies on the Equator

Thank you all for your kind comments. The quality of photography is mind blowing and a great narrative in all your posts I am pleased to see that the quality of my scans is appreciated which is a rather lengthy process using several software tools. I spent five months in South America in early 1989 ...

Dragonflies on the Equator, June 1989

I visited the Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana (FAE) during June 1989, being able to take many pictures at various locations. Compared to now with only 18 A-29B Super Tucano's operated by two squadrons in the combat role, things looked very different 35 years ago when the FAE operated A-37, AT-33, Strikemas...

Re: View count going crazy

Thanks, but it took 3 weeks to get to 4000 views and then two days to get to now over 19000 views which is another increase of 2000 views in 2 hours. This just doesn't add up.

View count going crazy

Any idea why the view count on my post on the "Indian Air Force "Trisonics", October 1990" in the "Warbirds, Replicas and Nostalgic Photography" sub forum increased from less than 4000 views to over 17000 views within a couple of days and still climbing? Is there some spamming going on or was it lin...

Re: Andes Hunters, March 1989

Thank you all for your kind words. Short stories. A deceased friend of mine, well known in the modelling world [Mike Mcevoy of Scale Aircraft modeller] flew Hunters in the R.A.F. He discovered that one that he flew was still in Peru [or it might have been Chile} so he and his wife went over to see i...

Re: Indian Air Force "Trisonics", October 1990

Thank you all for your kind replies. What was your mount for the Mig family A2A? A Jaguar IB. The mixed formation was part of the same air to air session as the single MiG-25R. Fantastic shots. The Foxbats look pretty battered, to me at least for a mach 3 capable aircraft. Any experts on here know w...

Re: G.91R/1 10 MM6305 I-AMIC

Great shot :thumb: Is by any chance, this 'Gino' still active? Isn't that the currently preserved airworthy one that was due to be at RIAT a couple of years ago? As the heading states, it is civil registered I-AMIC. If I am not mistaken, it was grounded for some time but is now flying again since O...

Indian Air Force "Trisonics", October 1990

Six MiG-25R reconnaissance aircraft (serial KP351 to 356) together with two MiG-25U conversion trainers (serials DS361 and 362) arrived in India in mid-1981 and formed No.102 "Trisonics" Squadron after they were re-assembled with soviet assistance. As the Squadron name suggests, the arrival of these...

Andes Hunters, March 1989

Two countries operated Hawker Hunters in Latin America, Chile and Peru. Hunter operation in Peru came to an end in 1980, but the type soldered on in Chile until 1995. The Fuerza Aérea de Chile (FACh) received 21 Hawker Hunter FGA Mk.71 (which was based on the FGA Mk.9) in 1967, and additional Hunter...

Re: Flying on a kitchen chair in a PhAF Tora Tora, April 1992

Thank you all for your kind comments which are much appreciated and do encourage me to post some other "stories". My visit with the PAF's17th Attack Squadron was indeed a rare opportunity as I could move around freely to take all these pictures. Fantastic. How battered are they? It'd be good to see ...

Great outcome. Did you use Super focus BETA or one of the other AI sharpen models?

Flying on a kitchen chair in a PhAF Tora Tora, April 1992

Most of you now ask, what the heck it a Philippine Air Force Tora Tora. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54292975640_d626c733c7_h.jpg For whatever reason, the North American AT-28D was called Tora Tora and not Trojan in the Philippines. The PhAF received over 50 T/AT-28Ds over the years and the 1...

Wow.Not what I expected to see on a wet Sunday morning in the UK! Absolutely brilliant Peter. I've just checked your Flickr page and web site. How did you manage to get such great access? Thanks. Well, I asked to get access... Would be nice if it is this easy. It was a lot of work to get there and ...

PAF No.1 FCU Shenyang FT-5s at Mianwali, March 1986

Even though most post in this forum covering events from the UK, there is maybe also some interest in some of the more exotic stuff. The following pictures are from my 1986 visit in Pakistan when spending a day with the No.1 Fighter Conversion Unit at PAF Base Mianwali. https://live.staticflickr.com...
