I had part of the day here visiting the Classic Airforce. They did not fly anything however there were several visitors. A C-130 was seen in the circuit from Newquay at around 0930 hrs but had gone by the time arrived at the airfield. An hour or two later another RAF Herc (ZH881) was seen. Later on...

Re: Last flight of Vixen

In an update to the article it says it says 'The 1950s fighter jet is being gifted to the Fly Navy Heritage Trust and will continue to be used in displays at air shows.'
Looking at the Fly Navy Heritage Trust site it appears to support the activities of the Historic flight and museum.

Re: 771 squadron aircraft - 'additional markings'.

There was a discussion on here last year about preserving at least one of the rescue Sea Kings expressing, the hope that the Classic Air Force at Newquay do so. Preserving the marked sponsoons would be a good way of commemorating and remembering the work of 771 around Cornwall and beyond. Is one mar...

Thanks for the information. Having seen the markings today I was curious as to its significance. Now intrigued as to what other rescues are commemorated in this way.

771 squadron aircraft - 'additional markings'.

I was able to attend 824 Squadron's family day today and fly in a Merlin. Sea King XV673/27 was outside the hangar. I noticed a reference to the Drum England rescue of August 1985 when Simon le Bon of Duran Duran and others were rescued from the capsized hull. This was in black low down on the fusel...

Yes it looks good. The first aircraft in the new scheme was photographed in June viewtopic.php?f=16&t=100012&p=627635&hilit=736 and the thread gives some information about it.
