Hi Peter,
I have it in my log as being marked as 4X-ACE '001', previously IDF serial 986 and before that USAF 78-0111.
Kind regards,
LH01.

Re: Farnborough 1992
The Spitfire would have been BBMF PS915. At the time it was painted in camouflage with a yellow P in a circle to replicate the prototype markings carried by RAF aircraft during WWIi, which gave the appearance of it being coded P. I think it was painted to represent one of the prototype Griffon-engin...

Re: CSG25 - Marham Jets
Don't think any of the jets have yet returned to Marham. However, according to the CAA ACN for Cobra Warrior in September, 617 Sqn are due to participate in Cobra Warrior so it may be that they will return to Marham from P of W before the end of CSG25

Re: VE Day 80th
I make it 23 (Lanc, five "heavies", eight fighters and nine Hawks)? BFBS Forces News has the same types and quantities as the Express article, likely from the same RAF press release. That said, I wonder if the four F-35s at the end with the Red Arrows is correct. That would give a total of six F-35s...

Re: John ‘Paddy’ Hemingway DFC
The BBMF have painted the name Gp Capt John Hemingway DFC under the cockpit of Hurricane LF363.
A fitting tribute to the last of The Few on the type he flew in the Battle of France and the Battle of Britain.

Re: RAMSTEIN FLAG MOVEMENTS
We left about 1530 yesterday, at which time the Turkish F-16s were still outside, parked up some distance from the hangar. They were all wrapped with covers on the engine nozzles etc and no sign of activity around them. They looked set to stay outside but I can't confirm if that remained the case. R...

Re: Cobra Ball departure from Mildenhall 10.03.25.
The original purpose of the black wing and engines was, as described above, to reduce glare on the mission optical sensors. Apparently with the newer digital optics now fitted the black anti-glare feature is no longer required and in fact the current optical sensors can be used for collection on eit...

B-2A accident at Whiteman 10 Dec 2022
B-2A 82-1068 was originally reported as the aircraft involved in the landing accident at Whiteman on 10 Dec 2022 and subsequently decided to be too difficult/expensive to repair. However, as reported here and elsewhere, it participated in Red Flag 25/1 at Nellis in January. Does anyone know if 82-10...

Re: Palmdale Request - 4/9/2024
Hi Slogen51,
I agree with your assessment that the F-16 at Palmdale is largely 78-0105, with only the nose being from 84-1228. I have therefore logged it as F-16B 78-0105. I know that Nighthawk237 is also of the same opinion and has done the same.
Kind regards,
LH01

G-ACSS is of course now part of the Shuttleworth collection at Old Warden and returned to Mildenhall for the flying display of at least one Air Fete back in the 1980s.

Re: CV-22 Osprey crash in Japan
The November issue of Air Forces Monthly contains a summary of the AFSOC Accident Investigation Board report.into this incident. The AIB report identifies the aircraft involved as "19-0054". "19-0054" is incorrect but seems likely to be a typo for 10-0054, indicating the aircraft lost was not former...

Wonderful selection of photos and types.
I would have to agree with others that the 56 sqn Lightning is my favourite but the four-ship of MFG-2 Stars pushes it close. And then there is the JBG-33 TF-104G as well.
Thanks for posting.
